One of my favorite all time players ever as to be..... Mr reliable himself ...Dennis Irwin,...not only a wonderful defender, never seemed to have a bad game,...and was so good from deadball situations,...a player who did his job with little fuss , but with great efficiency,...a top top player, and a player id have first on my teamsheet every time...

FA Cup semis in the 90s had to have oversized balloons in club colours strewn over the pitch. Local bylaws dictated it.

Is it true than Ian Dowie used to manage Crystal Palace as well as a player?

have one notice managers are openning their mouth, is the pressure of managing a team so great that if the mouth is not doing as mentioned looks like most managers will be admitted to the mental institution. what is it that the managers are doing with the open closing of their mouth. is the game weekly got to all ie those close to the team. is there no answer as to calm the nerve. from the manner of the movemet of the mouth they are chewing gum. the chewing is far out from how it is done by them, the pressure is notice from how the gum is chewed. i find that this has an impact which is an addiction and it is not easily given up, influence of this had got more and more going to this chewing gum. why and what is the issue started this. since alex retired the once habit has disappeared wonder if this is in the same difficulty of drug habit. pressure really is the cause of habits one never dream of getting into.

So Bizzare now thinking you had to play 120 minutes without penalties then potentially another 120 minute game with penalties just to make the final and that continued until 1999! No wonder they scrapped it. Finally had the sense to not have replays for the Quarters Too and introduce a 4th Sub for extra time, you wondered how these players coped with having to play almost 3 extra games, plus they use to have a replay for the final itself as well! So ridiculous now.

Nah mate - the old format of getting to Wembley was correct because the only other time you'd play @ Wembley is IF you played for England or playoffs for the lower divisions. Back then teams early had to work for the privilege to grace the Wembley turf. The old format rubber stamped the suspense of actually who would be tuning up at Wembley and also how special the FA cup actually was. To quote another KZread poster, "FA cup day used to be like a Royal Wedding....."and the blokes NOT wrong. It was as the entire build up lasted all day. Even people like your mum & granny had a genuine interest and have a bet on FA cup finial day. But now, it's been totally diluted. The semi finials being played at neutral grounds also added against something special to the occasion and cup runs. Maine Rd, Hillsborough, Villa Park, OT, occasionally Highbury were great venues. But you don't need me to tell you now that the entire format of the game has changed. The (and in my opinion) long and drawn out extra games now factored in for the new European Cup format has forever changed all that. The new Mecca for football in no longer Wembley or even the likes of the Maracana or Azteca. It's now some newly built or renovated stadium in Europe because that's where the money's to be found, CL finial night, live and direct NOT on the Wednesday, but now a Saturday night, and IF the rumours are true, soon to be held in New York City!!!!!! Please note, If you think that's total and utter bullshit, please remember the ONLY reason why an official "one off" La Liga game (i.e where league points are actually up for grabs) is currently NOT being played in Asia or the Americas is because ALL captains of La Liga teams (S.Ramos being most vocal) furiously opposed the idea!!!!

@Andrew Barrett A lesser team to Man Utd. I’m surprised I even have to explain this. Two seasons on the trot Man Utd went out to lesser teams than themselves.
