He looked like a full grown man when nothing but a lad .....great player
United fan for 50 years. I remember Norman, another Belfast boy, tough as nails. 31 players from Northern Ireland have played for United.
Thank you Norman Whiteside. You're the reason I'm a Red. 85 was my first fa cup final on TV. Just as he cut inside I said "shoot"... I thought yes. That's my team now. One Love.

Very unlucky team
Allways look on the whiteside of life. Great memories
1985 F.A cup final, Whiteside goal, bloody brilliant. Definitely a player for the big occasion.
The way he turned Hansen for that cup final goal to do that at 17 against one of Europe’s best centre backs says it all genius he was some player if wernt for the injury’s and the drink culture at Utd then he would have been even better he was a big game player was whiteside
I'm an older git now and was there when Norman was around. He was us fans on the pitch, with his passion for United. GGMU
I'd forgotten how good he was
Loved Big Norm when i stood in the stretty, gave his all and the likes of mcmahon, vinny stood off him

Sh*t his pants with Souness as well Shaka .
One of the greatest United players ever❤
Would love him playing today in midfield for Utd. All that power and passing ability. Brilliant player
I remember a game against Arsenal back in 86 where Norman kicked Steve Williams so hard in the first 5 minutes and the next time there was a 50/50 Williams bottled it and the whole crowd roared....We knew we had the game won. My fave player of that era.

Williams was a truly vile player, he got everything he deserved.
If Nozzer had had an extra yard of pace he could have been world class,(caught offside too much) then unfortunately injuries ended his career way too soon. Unforgettable winning 85 FA Cup Final goal. (another brill mad weekend). Cheers Norman 🍻🏆MUMUFMUFC OK✊🔴⚪⚫

I'm a Gooner and I was reading paper just now coming back home, and it said Man U moved Norman's seat because of executive needed it or so....not on 👍🤜🏽
He really was a class player.
Absolutely Brilliant footballer a complete hard man
A true legend & gentleman
Only one substitute. 😲
Remember the classic statement when HE fouled, "he got there as fast as he could" lol 😂

Big norm I've seen players bounce off him
Hero
For those who say he wasn't that good, Bryan Robson himself called him world class. I heard him say it.

Yes, Robson is a good judge of character ... he went on to be a top manager didn't he? 🤔
Top top player.
My only problem with Ferguson is he let Norman and Paul McGrath Go
Whiteside was injured in about 1980/1, wrecked his knee, if he hadn't been he'd have truly been world class still, wasn't bad was he? If he hadn't lost that pace he'd have been a world beater. he was still terrifyingly good at 20, more formidable even than Souness at that point, and Souness was a massive bastard then

@@seamusbyrne5350 Aye Seamus, my cousin played NI schoolboy internationals with him and nearly joined him at Utd (rejected at trial) and told me about it when I was only 11 or 12 - lost his pace as a result and became more of a battering ram than a finesse player - in his youth he was capable of both, massive shame
You've got to hand it to Bob Bishop.
BTW that league cup final goal is a work of art, especially from a 17 year old -he makes Hansen, of all people, look like a complete fool, and just watch it in slow motion if you disagree
Could play upfront aswell. Brilliant
The main man
Rambo, aka the shankill skinhead. Aged 10! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

A striker too
How many goals?
Think he became a physio.

Whiteside 82 - 9....just lacked pace.. Or would have been world class..
Greatest ever midfielders: is Schmeichel also eligible?

Nowhere near being one of our greatest midfielders. A cult hero, but we have at least 15 - 20 midfielders better than Norman ever was.

Whiteside is nowhere near being one of United's greatest ever midfielders. This is really silly. Charlton Robson Styles Best Keane Scholes Crerand Ince Carrick Giggs Beckham There's 11 to start with. We could keep going for more before even considering Whiteside.
I was a big United fan at that time but was never a Norman Whiteside fan. Wasn't at the level of Bryan Robson or Ray Wilkins, ungamely kind of player, not well balanced, I would imagine he was hard to play against because of his awkward playing style.
