Awful advice. Why would it take 10 years to find something out? or 10 years to hone your skills. That's an insane amount of time. If you make decent money and start investing at 25, that guy at 40 will pretty much never catch up.

  • @spidey677

@@CommoditySC the average person takes a while to find out what they like and can get good at. Especially men. Unless you have hundreds of thousands to invest than you can make real money. Anything smaller is chump change. In your 40’s you should be aiming to make tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands a month on a business.

The market is extremely competitive right now and a lot of the opportunities are for senior engineers. I say this so you know the cost of trying to get in tech industry.

There are four questions everyone has to solve in life. 1) Who Am I? (Your Purpose) 2) What work do I want to do? (Finance and health) 3) Who do I spend this life with? (Relationship) 4) What do I leave behind (legacy) These all have to be done in order, but the majority of people skip 1 and 2 and go straight to 3 and get stuck there. When you can answer the first 2, the 3 and 4 become easier.- Jay Shetty.

I tried to be a millionaire many times from 19-38. It set me back worse than if i stuck with my regular plumbing job. For most plumbers, it's a dead end job. Starting a plumbing business and succeeding, the odds are stacked against you. I made $90K one year and it almost killed me. I feel like going into a coma just thinking about it. I got to the point where money and women weren't worth that much effort. The financial advice is only going to happen to maybe 9% that actually try. Realize extending yourself and taking risks is dangerous and you will likely be unqualified to date for the rest of your life if you don't make at least $100K a year.

Yeah, there is some survivership bias here. The many who fail don't end up trying to sell the dream on social media. Also, those who DO try to sell it, are careful to frame any failure rate as "they didn't do the work" so as to brand any realists as whiney losers.

I’d have to ask… what exactly did you try? Were you simply trying to work as many jobs and hours as possible in hopes of making the money? Or was there any kind of strategy at play? Any investment strategies for the money that you did make? Were you attempting to scale up the business and take on more jobs and subcontract out work?

For guest suggestion, I would HIGHLY recommend Lance Armstrong. Not only would he be a great guest on Patrick's show given his polarizing history, but the Next Ventures investment fund he's involved with is hugely successful and I'd like to think there's a lot of intel and information that can be shared to the benefit of the viewer. He's very well read (listen/watch any of his Forward podcasts) and there are a lot of different topics and subjects he can elogquently and compentently converse on. While he's not really part of the "manosphere" per se, the dude's an alpha male if there ever was one and still is today. His takes on what it means to be a man would put a lot of the so-called "leaders" of the movement to shame. He would make for a riveting interview on both the SOScast and PBD's channels. I don't know how often he makes it to Florida. However, I would think for the right price you can get him and perhaps vice versa. I think PBD would be a great guest for him to have on his Forward podcast. Find a way to make it happen and keep up the great work!
