This one was a bit of a head scratcher. I could have got someone to help me but as I intend to do these on a fairly regular basis, I thought I ought to try and figure out a way of doing them on my own.
I could probably tweek the design a little to make it a bit less of a strain when pulling it up in to position

Good job and isn't so difficult to do it by yourself all alone has it seems on the beginning! 😉👌 I work alone has a campervan builder and it's heavy work, but very grateful, to install the pop up roof alone. In my case I have a winch intalled on the roof of the workshop, but the process it's the same. Congratulations and enjoy your camper van 😊

Brilliant! Karl you are a Genius! You must be a Tradesman making it look so easy to do. I'm doing it the Easy and Inexpensive Way. I got myself the Roost Explorer Hard Shell Roof Top Tent as it has a quarter inch molded Base & good Locking Latches. Going to mount it directly onto my 2009 GMC Savana Van Roof & cut out the R.T.T. Base & Van Roof so that I can Travel Stealth avoiding the Cities'" overnight Parking Bi-Laws and to be able to Stand-up in the back my Van when parked & Sleep overhead. All for under 2500.00 as I got a Used Roost R.T. Tent. Thanks for Sharing and Cheers from Toronto, Canada.
That crane frame is a genius idea, looking forward to seeing the new videos. I have a T4 that's been converted into a camper by a bloke in Nottingham, i am seriously considering buying a newer van and having a go myself, keep them coming Karl 😀🤙

looks good, glad we had a forklift! I too thought the instructions where a bit off! compress by 1" (50mm) I'm sure it said! air pop rivet'er is more use than any riv nut gun.

At the start of this series you said about converting vans for a living & wonder if you do other peoples vans cause I intend to get one when the prices drop & would happily travel to get you to do the work. Fair play. Great video. How much height does the pop top and to the car when it is closed? I want to get into carparks with 2m restrictions and my van is 1960 mm Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Karl. Your pop top video is great. I have just bought a Denby pop top. Very happy with the product but the instructions are not great. Can I ask you some questions about fitting?

Excellent work Karl. Much appreciated. I'm currently fitting a Denby to my T5 and notice that you're doing things differently to the instructions I've been given, such as bending a lip of the roof over the front frame and riveting horisontally rather than just a vertical rivet as instructed. Were you given additional instructions that drove you to do this or were you using your initiative?

I was just using my initiative, in fact I've just done it again on my next one which is T6.1 (video out next week) It just seemed to make sense to me to do it like that as the frame doesn't match the profile of the roof very well

Hey Karl. Quick question. When u did the pop top i was wondering how u knew the position to put the rivnuts in. Was it an exact measurement thing or did u get the roof on, without fixings and mark for drilling. If it was a measurement then do you have the details? I did my Austop roof in a similar way with a winch by the way but made much harder work of it with very limited winch height in my garage. Was a right faff!

Dan Sands there’s a plastic strip on the inside that you screw down on to the roof and trap the fabric
