Yes, easy for short ✋ sailing. One of favorite procedures. Also the simple heave to to use the jib in the opposite to push the boat back using engines.Actually I sail a Catamaran. Thanks for the video always I pleasure to see professional advises.

I like this MOB-manoever too. Btw: In Germany it's called the "Muenchner Manoever". It is a variation from 2 other manoevers called "Hamburger Manoever" and "Denhard-Manoever". Basically all three are very similar. Cheers

As you approach for pickup, should you switch off the engine? Also, if it's > 8 knots, or gusty, is there danger of the boat drifting over the top of the MOB?

Well spotted. This method works well for close hauled, close reach and beam reach. It does relie on you being able to get upwind of the casualty in order to drift down to them. If you are downwind sailing plan B will be very similar just heave too straight away. It will be pretty ugly as you ll have preventers to ease as you come round. Then furl in the headsail and motor up to the casually from a dead downwind position. Hope that helps.

Try the hand of Neptune. Rescue in less than a minute.

Nice video - can I ask what do you do with the main sheet - yours seemed to be left alone - normally would release for heave to? Thanks

Hi there. Depending on the type of mainsail and how much headsail you have out will determine if you need to ease the main sheet off. It is quite common to have to ease the main but best not to let it go completely as it would be a hazard to those on deck. Every boat heaves to differently so practice and see what works best on yours. 😊👍
