    +TheBlessed Tbh I'd agree that the figure of $15 million is almost certainly massively inflated, however I suspect he is making a good living out of this. Let's say he works 300 days a year, just under a 6 day working week, and brings in 500 golf balls a day, which I suspect is actually far short of what he could. Let's not forget that most of these golf courses will have never had the lakes dredged for balls, so there's going to be years and years of bad shots in there. Going on 500 balls a day, working 300 days, that's 150,000 per year, and given that the running costs on this kind of thing are going to be very low he'll be making almost pure profit on every ball sold, that's still a comfortable six figure income.

    +TheBlessed He mentions he decided stealing wasn't the way to make money, so he started a business. My guess is the golf courses pay him to clean their courses. I can't imagine its a huge sum, so still interesting hes made 15mil. Possibly from clubs and other finds? Who knows..

    I'm supposed to believe that the golf course gets 1.7 million visiters a year let alone 1.7 million visiters who all hit a ball in to the lake? That, on top of him consistently collecting 4,650 balls a day? Sorry, not buying it. If the course was open 360 days of the year 7am to 7pm there would be 4320 golfable hours. That means 393 people would have to golf the course every hour and each and all collectively average at least hitting one ball into the same lake every time.

    Hello everyone, sorry it has taken so long for us to comment back - been a busy month at Caters TV HQ. We will try harder next time, though, we promise :) To clarify a few things, Glenn doesn't work for one golf course, but multiple...across Florida. For instance, he will drive 5.5 hours from his home to Key West, hit up a host of courses there and then travel back with his haul to clean them up and sell on. Next few days, work on courses in a different area etc. In his best day to date - coincidently in Key West, must be lots of terrible golfers round there - Glenn recovered 17,000 balls in a single day, largely dredging the bottom of lakes around the course. Remember, these are courses that haven't had any balls recovered for a long time. And having lost a good five odd balls on one round while playing golf myself, you can imagine how many end up at the bottom of lakes, in heavy undergrowth etc when hundreds are playing a course a day (admittedly everyone's probably not as bad as me though!)... Glenn then cleans them up, polishes them, makes them look nice, then bags them up into 10, 20, 50,100 etc balls and sells them globally. He sells the balls for at least $1. So they can sell for much more. There's different grades: ‘Pearl’ = mint condition, basically brand new - and sell for a lot if premium, good quality brands. The lowest grade ‘Practice’ = pretty beat up, only good for practice. Some of the top brands, in near perfect, mint condition (someone slices their fresh ball into the trees), can go for $2-3+ each. Anyway, thanks for watching/commenting.

    +jimmydreads A new ball that's been sitting in a lake or ravine for more than 2-3 months will not clean up to Mint Condition. Older series golf balls (older than 4 yrs) don't carry the same value as newer series balls, even if both are mint condition. Dredging for older model golf balls that have been in muddy water for prolonged periods are hardly worth anything.

  • @theygowhootnnn5807

    @theygowhootnnn5807

    +Bamblagram that's the only believable thing he said actually, he said he used a dredge, but yeah everything else is pure bullshit. if there was that much money to be made, other people would be doing it and investing in ways that don't use require the expenses of diving gear and oxygen tanks, and the reason I know the rest is a lie is because they claim he keeps the golfballs and sells them himself, which means that for some reason golf courses allow him to take thousands of dollars in golf balls free of charge. golf ball are not worth as much as is bieng implied either.

    It is nearly impossible to find this many golf balls per year because weather and personal condition did not aloud that. And usually the owner of the course get a big time of the earned money. On top an average ball isn't worth a dollar, usually two thirds of your casual income is hardly and inrepairibly dirty or just broken or old in brand or shape. In my business calculation minus all costs I estimate one found random ball a worth of 6,5 € Cents. Making big time money with golf ball fishing is only possible when you have several employees. But in fact on the most days you pay yourself a sallary of about 50 to 150€ per day in terms for the German local market. With 20 hunting and 8 sale days per month you've got only 2 ftee days per month and the season is about 10 months long, you earn 20,000€ per year. This means you can barely pay your bills and because you came in contact with poinsned and cold water nearly every day you had to face a month of illnesses per year. And every day you don't work you earn NO money.

    The problem is golf balls go stale even if kept in a box over time. Do a bounce test on balls left in a lake for a couple of years against a brand new Titleist. Makes a huge difference in distance.

    I used to do this back in the 70's but it became harder to get authorization to retrieve balls because golf courses would make special deals with friends or relatives to dive their ponds so by the 80's I got out of it. Although I didn't do it on the level this guy has, here in south Florida we never had any problem selling the balls off.
