Man Got Style visits barber/beauty salon Wheadon in Berlin's Mitte district.
Nicole Wheadon has been in the beauty business for over 30 years, and of late she has embarked on her own personal venture ‘Wheadon’. A salon like no other, in fact ‘salon’ is not the right word; Wheadon is a tardis on the back streets of Berlin. It is a little haven, ironically situated on crossroads, as it is a place of coming together. Nicole’s establishment is by no means rudimental, you will not find women in rollers here, or beauticians in white overalls. Quite the contrary, you will find Nicole, her barber Will, and a few other lovely faces ready to greet you and converse with you. You can go by for a wonder round - no doubt Nicole will be trying to feed you her divine liquorish sweets from ‘Lakrids’. You can go and sample loads of products from some obscure artisan-esque brands, such as Crux or Oak. You can experience the Wheadon facial, which is unique to them and involves yoga breathing and a deep facial clean, using a jet of cool salted water. And if your luck is in and he’s stopped by, you can spend some time with Will, the ‘Artist-Barber.
