"Man From UNCLE" Actor Robert Vaughn 1932-2016 Memorial Video

Ойын-сауық

Robert Francis Vaughn (November 22, 1932 - November 11, 2016) was an American actor noted for his stage, film and television work. His best-known TV roles include suave spy Napoleon Solo in the 1960s series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and wealthy detective Harry Rule in the 1970s series The Protectors. As grifter and card sharp Albert Stroller, Vaughn appeared in all but one of the 48 episodes of the British television drama series Hustle (2004-2012).
In film, he portrayed quiet, skittish gunman Lee in The Magnificent Seven, an ambitious California politician Chalmers in the film Bullitt starring Steve McQueen, Major Paul Krueger in The Bridge at Remagen, and war veteran Chester A. Gwynn in The Young Philadelphians which earned him a 1960 Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Vaughn died on November 11, 2016, eleven days before his 84th birthday. The cause was acute leukemia.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was my most favorite TV show as a kid, and there were many kids who liked Napoleon Solo, especially boys, and Illya Kuryakin, especially girls, more than James Bond in the `60s. Mr. Vaughn, you were my hero, and you still are after more than fifty years. Rest in peace.

Just finished Bob's autobiography A Fortunate Live which is an excellent read and remarkably free of ego and narcissism. He also was an American with a small 'A' so was not above facing down the gung-ho people who would lead his country into a war they could not win namely The Vietnam War. Lets call Vaughn a true patriot who graced his profession with class. May he rest in peace.

You left about a 40 year gap between Colombo and Law a Order. During that period, Vaughn worked steadily, doing Brass Target, Washington behind closed doors, Captains and Kings, Centennial, North a South, SOB, Superman 3, Return of MFU, Black Moon Riseing A-team and more. Haveing said that, overall, it`s a nice tribute. Thank you for this. R.I.P. Robert Vaughn.

Something over looked about Dr. Vaughn P.H.D. is his love of learning. While doing the UNCLE series, he was attending USC two nights a week, and in later years taught for a while at Harverd.

This one hit really hard, as did Robert Culps passing in 2010. My hero. We had an U.N.C.L.E. HQ and my Dad made us Burns-Martin shoulder holsters for our plastic P-38s & Lugers. All the gang played in our neighbourhood. I pull out a few episodes to watch quite often. Great to have been 12 in 1964! Cheers to all you fellow fans across the Universe. He passed on the 11th, my beautiful wifes birthday. - Ron L.

Man from UNCLE was an example for me as a young adult where I learned to see problems in situ and apply these situations to actual presence . Of course, not all things are solved.

Thank you for the memorial video, very well done. I would note, however, that the still with Boris Karloff is from a movie Vaughn did in 1966 called "The Venetian Affair". It is a good movie and it is not part of "The Man From UNCLE" series.
