Also the fact that he has never tried to help out a young male-presenting person, despite the fact that many young men would love a second chance to have a father figure to learn from and that Danny claims supporting a young person is his only intention. I get nothing but predatory vibes.

Let's be honest, he most likely wanted to adopt an adult because his main priority was to prey on her. Her being of age makes it legal. I believe his wife also knew of his true intentions. I'm disgusted with these people.

There's a thread from twitter floating around from someone who claimed to have met & spoken with Danny about the show. Wife most certainly knew. They had nearby family that knew and wife & this cousin were actually pretty actively discouraging towards the whole thing. That's why she didn't let Ileana into the home--to make it tougher and to get Danny on camera creeping around the trailer. Ultimately, this person said that she moved out and the cousin took her and kept Danny away from her. After which she moved away from the area and is somewhere safe. Danny, meanwhile, is still trying to adopt another young woman.

with her being over 18, there are no government agencies (CPS) involved, and I'm guessing she just needs to consent to the adoption and nobody checks anything. even more so than being homeless, I think they main leverage he has on her is that she's about to be a mother, so not only would she be highly dependent on him, but her baby would depend on her puttin up with him, too. she's a first time parent at only 20, single, and with no family support at all. she's the least independent woman he could find. she's also now in a foreign country, and I wonder if she's even legally allowed to work there.

The family who adopted my sister have always been there for me and to me they are my Mom and Dad because I can trust them to be honest and do the right things regardless of how hard it is. I love them very much and I thank God for them. I have two kids now, a boy and a girl and as their father as fucked as I continue to learn I am, it’s my honor to love them as a father and help guide them into the best life for them I can. I think this had the potential to be a heartwarming story. “Homeless pregnant girl gets adopted by childless couple.” Just because you’re legally an adult doesn’t mean you can do it all by yourself. It’s just sad that he obviously isn’t really interested in helping or adding a family member. He’s just trying to get a young side chick in a very roundabout way.

Adults adopting adults isn't a problem when applied correctly. This scenario is a horrible misuse of those laws. They're meant for foster children to have legal say in who their parents are once they're old enough. Many foster parents will hold off on legally adopting their kids because they want to make sure it isn't forced upon the kid like many other situations are. This though? This is just gross

Have you looked in the mirror lately? She's a young attractive girl... I'm willing to bet her ex was a young attractive guy. If she wants to pursue a new relationship, she's probably going to look for another young attractive guy. Meanwhile, Danny is in his 50s, overweight, has grey hair and a receding hairline, and - oh yeah, almost forgot, is a MAJOR CREEP. There is no way Ileana would want to have sex with this man. She's already made it clear she wants her (and the baby's) material needs met, and she may even want a parental relationship with a mom and dad who give a crap about her life. Pretty sure she doesn't want to get porked by a creepy narcissist with a savior complex. I really hope both of these women are okay... and Danny needs to be put on a watch list.

I don't have a problem with adult adoptions in theory. I've read some beautiful stories about people who have lost their parents and then have found support through another family. Or sometimes an older couple who didn't have kids for whatever reason ends up GENUINELY helping a younger person out, like this pregnant, unmarried woman. You can argue that a legal document isn't necessary, but it affords you a lot of legal rights in case of medical and property issues, as well as concreting a relationship people value. For example, why do people get married if they know they are committed for life? The legal process can make people feel more secure.

My cousin was adopted as an adult too. She joined our family when she was 14! Her parents wouldn’t give up paternal rights either. She couldn’t even apply to college until the adoption was finished b/c financial stuff was hard when her parents weren’t legally her parents. She’s 26 now but adult adoption is beautiful and necessary. Not whatever this is.

I think the concept of adopting adults can be, in theory, a really great thing- kids who turn 18 and then get phased out of the system can really have their lives turned around by having someone willing to step in for them. This, however is absolutely just a mockery of something that could actually be good and its very frustrating & icky to see. also I feel like if I was within 25 feet of that man my spidey senses would be going off- sometimes you can just see that someone has grabby hands and its not very poggers

I got to drop her groceries and cleaning supplies when the pandemmy hit, so I'm happy I can help her out too. Most abuse victims have a really hard time leaving their partner, or whoever is abusing them, even when they know the situation is so wrong. It's got a lot to do with the psychology of the abuser and the abused. Saying "she needs to be more assertive", yeah duh, no shit, but don't you understand she's been married to this man for so long, it's gonna take a lot to pack up and leave?? Edit: i think I know why he thinks like this. He's abused a girl before and she's come out on twitter, but she gets no traction at all sadly

leo, american immigration officials do view pregnant foreigners entering the US sceptically. the reason is america's near-universal birthright citizenship - if the baby is born in america, it's an american citizen, even if the mother wasn't in the US legally at the time of birth. the US government doesn't want people coming over just to get their babies US citizenship. US immigtation officials are probably a lot less sceptical about pregnant austrians though compared to many other countries of origin. mr. creep, being the most average american, probably doesn't know this, but austria is one of the wealthiest EU countries, and austrians don't commonly have the wish to move to the US.

@@kostasv6980 Birthright citizenship exists as an amendment to our Constitution and has been in effect since 1868, it's not going anywhere lol. It also serves a very important function. Before the 14th Amendment, which established birthright citizenship, was implemented, Black people, free or enslaved, couldn't be US citizens, including Black people whose families had been taken to the country at the start of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Preventing entire groups of people from being or becoming citizens has existed as a tool of oppression for as long as citizenship has been a concept. Imagine if we didn't have birthright citizenship: you're born in America to immigrants, and because of the circumstances of your parent's birth you can't do anything that's tied to being a citizen of the United States, like vote (also fun fact: you have to be born in the US to run for president). Plus, the "immigrant" status that you likely would have inherited from your parents means you could be deported to a country you've never even been to for something as petty as a misdemeanor. Spending your entire life trying to "earn" citizenship to a country you've already spent your entire life living in is not only xenophobic, but hypocritical given that none of the people who "founded" the United States had roots on this continent (another fun fact: Native Americans weren't granted US citizenship until 1924 despite fucking being here first). If you're interested in what an America without birthright citizenship would look like, there are countless stories of adults who came to the US as very young children, became victims of "immigration reform," and were deported to a "country of origin" they either barely remembered or didn't remember at all. It would look a whole lot like that. Ideally, we would just treat people who aren't citizens with more dignity than this. But we don't, and so birthright citizenship remains important. We can't just get rid of it, and we won't, no matter how many deeply confused weirdos scaremonger about Mexicans or Middle Easterners or whatever flavor of immigrant they hate the most is that week "abusing" the concept.

You gotta understand from Christy she probably has had her ego and self worth absolutely destroyed by Danny, and there may be other reasons we don't know about why she isn't leaving him. He's so manipulative and probably has such a control on her that she feels for whatever reason she can't do what's best for her

The wife is complicit in allowing her husband to prey on a vulnerable young woman. Throw her in jail too that’ll wake her up, do her some good.
