In this video, I show you step by step the way to get your live steam loco in steam, and this is for any gauge, but this loco is SM32 with 16mm. I hope this guide helps you if you starting off or just want to see the Mamod quarry loco!

These Mamods are a major step up from those of my youth!
Great video, Mamod has come leaps and bounds from its early SL1 days, though I still love the simple charms of the original.
Very good informative video , Nice loco you have there keep safe Graham
Nice loco, saving up for one myself! I have a Mamod Boulton and Brunel and think the new Mamods are going in the right direction

I certainly can agree with that
Our gas seems to be running out extremely quickly once we light the boiler. Any idea why? Thanks.
OK so I watched the vids in the wrong order. I like the way you describe each step of the process. I have a Mk3 Mamod and the process is similar but not quite the same. Watching you go through the oiling points is very useful. A cracking loco and excellent video. Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you, I wanted to try and be as informative as possible, little bit hard to film at the same time but glad you enjoyed, the loco really does run well though, once again many thanks 👍

Hi, what do you think of the mk3? Would it be possible to fit a pressure gauge?
Rather than removing the smoke box door, have you tried lighting the gas through the funnel/chimney?

I have done, but this loco doesn't seem to light to well as there is a slight blockage stopping the flow of gas, think it may be a bit of solder, but I have had this fixed but a steam buff (hopefully)
So a year on how is it holding up?
Have you got the Mamod sterling as well would you be able to do a video On how to run it by remote control with the tender

My friend does so I could definitely get them running together, will be something I'll try and make happen for you in the future 👍
i always used to look at these and think of installing an RC Servo that is attached to the levers...

Hello, thanks for the nice video. What amazes me, there is no sight glass for the water level? When should I top up the water? I have a Mamud Brunel with a water indicator. Greetings Harald from Germany

Hi, thanks for commenting. The boiler is designed to run out of gas before water, so long as you fill it up full before you run it, but I do agree, it definitely needs a water sight glass! Many thanks from Keiran in England :)

Mamod instructions aren't the best I'm afraid, best places is the mamod forum online, hope this helps! 👍

That's correct it doesn't, it will run out of gas before water
