    I found the part about not storing your rope in battery acid to be very good advice

    Very important to tie the ends of the rope together before washing unless you want to spend half an hour untangling a dripping wet rope.

    Another great way of avoiding this is to put in a laundry bag and then wash it, or something else that prevents the rope from tangling.

    Sehr gute Tipps. Aufgepasst bei der Markierung am Ende des Seils mit einem Klebeband. Ich hatte letztes Jahr schon eine Seilblockierung deswegen. Gruss, Peter

    @1:20 Ropes only last 1 year if you use it once / week? So it’s only good for ~50 days of climbing?

    I assume that is an estimate from average amount of falls and rope rub/wear for dynamic climbing rope. Check with manufacturer for better estimates.

    Must I clean the detergent tray before putting my rope in the washing machine?

    Why do you recommend against hanging the rope up to dry? Almost everywhere I read people flake them out evenly over a laundry rack, door, pull-up bar or something similar. Will this somehow affect the integrity if it’s hanging wet on certain spots? Or is it more about not putting tension on just one loop of rope?

    any tips on what to use for marking the middle of the rope after it was cut? I got Beal rope marker, but there is a lot of info online saying not to use it on mammut ropes.

  • @maayazi

    Just use the other end until you cut it the same amount as the first end and then the middle is middle again.

    Yes, you can and you should wash all ropes. It does not matter if they are Dry or Classic.

    my 6 year old infinity seems fine per video, not excessively stiff and no core showing, but it seems to have a LOT more friction in trad climbs. time to retire?

  • @mammut

    @mammut

    Ropes do get stiffer over time. If the rope gets so stiff that it is annoying to climb and belay with it, then it is time to retire the rope or start using it for top roping.
