Back in the day we used to call that the "R-Beast". And while it is a big camera it is also a mechanical work of art. Congrats on the purchase! Phoenix, AZ

Great to see Mamiya out and about. I began on film and shot jobs mostly with Mamiya RZ67 and Pentax67 and Sinar P2 (4x5). Even with travel jobs I'd carry these bodies around (and I traveled globally) and usually felt knocked out at the end of the week. These bodies are so cumbersome compared to lightweight digital gear today. But the process with shooting film demanded a different viewpoint and process and the favorites from back then really shine compared to what I get today with my digital setups. And these bodies were available from Mamiya till 2010...! You can probably buy a relatively cheap prism viewfinder if you think the waist level viewfinder is a barrier to getting the pics you want. But it does add more weight to the body. I still have my Mamiya RZ body and lenses and now I want to go out and shoot some film...!

Another fun medium format camera is the Great Wall DF. The original 90/3.5 lens with its swirly blur is amazing. It's a 6x6. The cons are that it only has the one lens. It was really rare 15-20 years ago, I don't know now. The film can be almost impossible to get into the mag. The images are what count though and they look very pleasing.

I'd love to hear more about TSA giving issues! that kinda makes me mad lol I love MF cameras and considered the RB67 but thought it was too big for MF. With the size of it, I'd rather go up to 4x5. I decided for Hasselbald 503cw. It's smaller but still give a nice 6x6 negative. If I were to go for a 6x7 camera, I'd go with the Mamiya 7ii range finder. It's really portable and give a that huge negative.

They are indeed wonderful cameras. Big and a little awkward at times but the images are just fantastic. The only thing I have a problem with and it is my problem not the camera and that is I forget to check the bellows extension and add that to the exposure. That does lead to some underexposure and color print film hates to be underexposed.
