Me too!! Saw in NY on broadway in 2017, AMAZING, the tears poured down my face!!

I saw her live 2 years ago, knowing nothing about the musical nor Mamie Parris. Since the role she is playing is of a very broken "cat", she never let her full voice out until this song. No recording out there does her masterful performance justice.

Well I haven’t cried to this song yet damn she’s made me cry

Zero Todona I generally think they just needed a new director in general for the movie and maybe different costumes lol and less CGI, Jennifer Hudson probably would’ve seemed way better maybe due to the directing.

A combination of "muh diversity" and "no ones gonna see a musical if it doesn't have famous people in it". Basically the reason CATS sucked was because the people making it had a very poor opinion of the people who watch their movies.

That crescendo! Gives me the freaking shivers, every time. So glad that I got to see this in person.

I'm going through all of the singer's that sing memory and I'm stunned by all of them. They are all so talented in what they do. And everyone is just waiting for that crescendo. It really is the most breathtaking part I've ever heard. Jaw dropping performance by Mamie.

This woman and Elaine Page, when they get to the climactic part I cry and I can't explain what I'm feeling. Like, practically sobbing. Everyone else, just a nice song.

Mamie is my all time favorite Grizabella, to be honest. I've listened to many, but her voice is the one that makes me feel like I'm seeing the show for the first time again \

She did the role and by extension the song justice, but Elaine Paige will always be number 1 in my book

As much as I love Elaine Paige performance, this is the best rendition of the song I've ever seen.

…guys… I’m so sorry. Yes, it IS beautiful; but-it’s a beauty heard via “UNISON”… NOT, “harmony,” by definition… Yes, they are separated by an octave, but they are singing the same exact notes… this is a duet in unison (and honestly, a beautiful unison is arguably more difficult to accomplish than beautiful “harmony“). …i’m so sorry, I wish I could just read and scroll, but I had to say some dumb sh*t on this one for vocabulary’s and etymology’s sake. Please forgive me. I promise, I’m not a [complete] d*ckhead.

That brought tears to my eyes... and here I thought Elaine Paige did the best Grizabella.

I had the privilege of seeing this play last night at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C and this part sound so much better in person..I was sucked in and she had me breakdown and cry..and I don't cry easily..such a beautiful but sad song..beautifully done!!

Saw the show & her in Boston this year and had chills as I recorded this scene you can her me say wow 😳 when she hits that “memories” part absolutely amazing❤️ my daughter who’s 10 & also sings was with me & was in aww and has been trying over n over with this song since she saw mamie perform this I knew she would love this show and that song specifically❤️ thanks for an amazing night and a memorable one for my daughter she’s hooked☺️

Remember seeing her live as Elphaba - she was phenomenal then, no surprise she's phenomenal now

This is a great performance and I feel like it’s so naturally emotional compared to Jennifer Hudson’s versión from the upcoming movie. Although, to be fair, it was just a small clip without the context of the entire scene but still, Mamie Parris really crushes it.

I never was a theater person, actually I used to hate musicals my entire life, and never heard any song from cats for sure, then, in christmas 2021, after almost two years of isolation due to pandemic, my daugther sang “memory” on our christmas eve celebration (the second one that we my wife and our two children celebrates alone, with the fear of the virus) … hear this song for first time and I almost cried when I hear the sweet voice of my sweet child singing “is too easy to leave all alone with the memory of my days in the sun”… I did not just because it supposed to I am the man in the house, the one that must carry his family through hard times… but I cries in secret almost every time I heard this song. Now I am a true fan from “cats” and theater, I take my daughter to broadway to see Hamilton and Chicago, and past week we finally attend “Cats”, such an amazing show.

Leona had a different vocal placement, very different for a musical. She can sing POP , but a terrible actress. I didn't see Grizzabella, the lonely and decrepit outcast.

@@brooklynthomas7023 Leona can sing. But stage musical demands more than just singing. You have to act the character. I did not hear nor see Grizzabella in her acting. She was just there to boost ticket sales for its first few months, really. There were so many performers who are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than her. But hey, it's show business.

I hope you get to see it soon. I saw it in Chicago for the first time ever a few days ago and it is easily one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. I almost accidentally gave a standing "O" after the first number because I was so into it and my friend and I both had ugly tears going during Memory (the 1st and 2nd time it came around).
