The tune is "Mambo Beat" - composed by Tito Puente. Here's the original version arranged by him. Doc Severinson - trumpet, Joe Grimm - bari sax were featured as soloists with Maestro Puente taking the last solo on timbales. It originally appeared on the Tito Puente album NIGHT BEAT released in 1957 on RCA. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nJN62stxYqbcqaw.html

@@007ephraim Mambo actually had origins in Mexico, too, as it was first popularized as a music genre by the musician Damaso Perez Prado shortly after he moved to the country; Prado was Cuban, but he moved to Mexico in 1949 and formed his famous Mambo music group there, where Prado's unique music genre (Mambo) first reached a global audience (in Mexico, he also partnered up with Beny More, another famous name associated with Mambo). Though the actual inventors of Mambo were two Cuban brothers, who Prado was familiar with back in Cuba, Prado is credited for being the first to popularize the Mambo music genre to a global audience. Mambo was also a a major influence in the creation of Salsa, a music style that is very closely related and which saw its debut about a decade later (in the 1960s and -70s). It turns out there is not a single source for the origins of Salsa, though a large fraction of it is contributed to the music that developed in Cuba and Puerto Rico. Prado's mambo (and later the version created by Tito Puente, who was based in New York) is credited as having a substantial influence in the development of Salsa. And, anyway, Mexico made all these kinds of music popular, because Mexico had the largest Spanish-speaking population, an audience and venue which all of these musicians sought. Technically, then, Mexico too is responsible for the successful development of Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Timba, and various other types of these music genres that are closely related. Damaso Perez Prado later became a Mexican citizen and died in Mexico City in 1989.

Hi Sergio how is the day going? I hoped to reach you just to put our mambo kicks together. I spoke to Alejandro Rivera from Winter Haven he is a timbalero I got news that he is negotiating a fee to use his aunts garage in Lakeland. Im expecting an answer ASAP it took me a while to bother but If I want to get a process done then I have to make it happen. Stay well, hopeful, and positive. Im with you...by the way do you correspond with Victor Casio? We go back to 1969 in the Hoboken days until I was drafted Oct 1971...came back in 1974 to do M-day USAR for a year, hooked up with tbone king Jimmy Bosch and Charlie Lopez with La Caliente and left for RA volunteer Army (VOLAR) in Nov 1975 and stayed away from Hoboken. Thats a chapter rife with the good, the bad and the ugly. Once disco hit the scene I was using boogie shoes to Carmens Garden, the Sanctuary, and the life of debauchary....estaba perdido en el pecado...😮😢 but life experiences I love all the Hoboken Days looking back..❤❤

I already found their facebook page and liked them. I'm going to be talking about them a lot on my radio show. BTW I'm from Trinidad but I love the music.

This is Salsa not mambo. "mambo" in salsa music refers to the vamp that's played by the rythm section while the brass soloist improvise. This band "swings"!!!!
