I'm so sorry to hear of this great man's passing. He has inspired so many.

I saw this morning when I went to put on one of my 18 month old daughter's favorite videos, Keita's duet with taiko legend Eitetsu Hayashi. I was greatly saddened to read of his passing. He was a huge influence on my bodhran (Irish frame drum) playing. Some people are national treasures, grand meitre Keita is an international treasure. He will live on as long as there is rhythm in people's hearts and joy in their souls.

Hoy es un día muy triste para el mundo de la Cultura Susu de Guinea Conakry y también para el mundo de la percusión y danza africana a nivel mundial con la perdida del gran maestro Mamady Keita. Esta noticia causa una profunda tristeza, personas como él nunca deberían morir por su gran bondad, por su pasión a la música de su cultura, por difundir y compartir generosamente sus conocimientos por todo el mundo sin hacer diferencias por la procedencia de cada uno, pues con ello conseguiste crear una familia internacional, gracias por habernos hecho disfrutar y vibrar en tus conciertos, en tus clases, decir, que su legado quedará en nuestras memorias y con ello él seguirá vivo cada vez que suenen los ritmos de los doun dounes y de los djembes. Hoy se nos fue una estrella que nos iluminó, pero su luz siempre permanecerá. Gracias por todo Mamady Keita, siempre estarás en nuestros corazones y que tu viaje que ahora emprendes te lleve al mundo que realmente amas.
