-- Founded by Anna Jarvis, the first official Mother’s Day was celebrated on May 10, 1908, with a service from St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia.
Internationally, there is a wide variety of Mother’s Day celebrations with different origins and traditions, some of which are now influenced by this newer American tradition.
Mother’s Day is a day celebrated around the world to commemorate motherhood. It is celebrated on different days in different countries, on the first Sunday in May in Hungary.
In 07, Anna M. Jarvis of Philadelphia tried to make Mother’s Day a national holiday. The holiday was scheduled for the second Sunday in May in memory of his deceased mother.
He devoted a lot of time and energy to making the celebration first national and then international. In the case, Senator Elmer Burkett of Nebraska introduced the first bill in the U.S. Senate in 1908 that proposed the official establishment of Mother's Day Jarvis achieved its goal when, with the proclamation of U.S. President Woodrow Wilson on May 9, 1914, his second declared Sunday an official holiday for mothers. (In 1914, the second Sunday of May, and thus the first official celebration of Mother's Day, fell on May 10.)-----------------------------------------------------------
