His rendition is the most difficult one i heard. Takes huge strength which reflects in his singing.

Aha, the gamakas and forcefulness of continuous gayaki in this rendition is just incredible! He must’ve swept Chennai rasikas off their feet! 😊

John BOSWELL Not a single day passes without listening to this greatest vocalist of Hindustani music. Everything seems paltry before the sublimity of his music. He created an instant rapport with the audience. I consider his Raga Shivmat Bhairav the greatest piece of music ever sung by a human being.

Sublime!, mesmerising, electrifying ! He had perfect command on swara, laya, tala.

The adjectives of 'scintillating', 'mesmerizing' etc. used too often these days for somewhat indifferent performances. Perfectly appropriate in this case. He has rendered this like a man possessed. Grateful thanks for this upload.

One thing that sends shivers down my spine is if I had lived and died before Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur’s time… a gentle saint soul whoes music is esoteric but heart melting; who performed with little calculation and expecting anything in return… Many of his renditions are my favorite and bulwark in my shaky times..

This kind of full throated singing is not heard any more!👌

Though I am from Dharwad the native of Mallikarjun Mansur not heard his live consort. But now daily enjoying in KZread, feeling as perfect divine voice and addicted to his merismatic flow of voice

Music is very deeply ingrained in the social fabric of Dharwad. Almost taken for granted. But People from Dharwad realize it only when they move out of Dharwad.

While presenting this raga, most musicians get a bit lost in showing off how effortlessly they can vault the melodic loops like a champion equestrian. But not Mansur, he snakes through it with the gait and confidence of a mighty river. Anchoring even a raga as flighty as this one to the very chest of Mother Earth.

Side note: Words don't have much importance in classical music in India. It's the improvising on the notes of the melody. One can sing two lines for hours at end.
