Mallard Duck Timelapse and Release

All grown up! Throughout summer, our team cared for two groups of orphaned Mallard ducklings that were rescued from sewers. This video shares their daily progress and successful release.
Lake Erie Nature & Science Center continues to care for our resident animals and wildlife rehabilitation patients during this health crisis. We welcome and respond to wildlife questions from the public and offer wildlife rehabilitation services at no charge. Please make a donation to support our efforts to care for animals and provide valuable wildlife education: www.lensc.org/support-wildlife/

Thank you for showing this! We hatched a wild mallard and we're raising it for release; being able to see a timeline is really helpful

Awesome job! ❓ I've got mallard ducklings that are 29 days old. Feathers are starting to appear and some have a green sheen on the very top of their heads. Is this an indicator that these are drakes or do juvenile female mallards also have the green on their heads? 👍

only drakes have green on the head, but at 29 days old, I'd say they shouldn't be getting color yet. If you look at the bills, though, you should see the differentation.

I think its bloody irresponsible and cruel to raise these ducks domesticated and just dump them in the wild to fend for themselves.
