What if Gabriel isn't evil? Gabriel literally had a miserable, wretched life from the day he was born. He never asked to be conjoined, he never was treated with any love, respect, and compassion especially being given away by his birth mother to be under the "care" of the doctors. Gabriel's rage stems from the lack of love, pain, self-hatred, and mistreatment by the doctors that surgically butchered him. The doctors conditioned young Emily to not see Gabriel as her brother and they successfully made sure of it.

@@NoFreedom702 I get what you're saying, and my comment wasn't meant to dissipate the relationship between Gabriel and Emily. It was an off-hand joke for the sake of the comment, but I do realize that Gabriel's relationship with Emily was the only actual outlet he had for human interaction given his options. He might not be "horrible" per say, but it doesn't change the fact that he still murdered a jail cell full of women (whose charges may not warrant a death penalty) and policemen. It's not fair to him, but it still doesn't justify the lives he's taken, but he killed anyway. All of everything he's suffered is still incredibly hurtful, but that doesn't mean he gets to inflict that on others. Considering that he has fed off of Emily's fetuses and caused multiple miscarriages to gain strength is the catalyst of him rising to power in this movie, it goes far beyond him just simply being misunderstood. Gabriel may care for Emily as a twin and a sister, but it never means more to him if he can find another outlet.

​@@DarkshireWarlock Yes I agreed 100%. Nobody can excuse Gabriel for his murderous sprees but if you think about it, the doctors literally had it coming. The jail massacre isn't an excuse either but two women cornered Emily, ganged up on her and no one helped but watch, still doesn't change the fact he killed them. How would this scene play out if one woman, unlike the rest, tried defending Emily in the cell? Of course, Gabriel singlehandedly murdered everybody except Shaw and Moss in the precinct, to prevent them from tracking him down. Gabriel is, in fact, very aware he won't ever have a single shred of a normal life like everybody else. Yes it is horrifically unfortunate that Gabriel literally caused four miscarriages; however, he couldn't control that and he had no other way of feeding himself. Can you imagine Gabriel piloting his pregnant sister?? My God...

@@NoFreedom702 I slightly agree with saying the doctors deserve it because it's like you said where they treated Gabriel as a cancer, and we have no evidence otherwise to prove whether Gabriel (in childhood) was purposefully absorbing nutrients at Emily's expense because it could've just been how their anatomy worked, but I still disagree about the women in the jail cell. Abuse is a horrible thing to experience, whether as the direct victim or a witness. I've been a witness and sometimes a person just becomes paralyzed with fear. Both for themselves and being afraid of making things worse for the victim. That fear permeates even when you feel like you're in the right and people will rally around you. Jackie Kashian talked about her grandmother being apart of the Armenian genocide. She said there were 50 Armenians assigned to 1 guard, and the obvious response was, "why didn't you guys just tackle him together?" and her grandmother responded "no one wanted to be the first to die, so we all died." We all want to believe that we'd do the honorable thing in a situation like that and defend someone being abused, but the sense of self-preservation is both strong and selfish, especially when you know you're weak. The two women beating on Madison in the cell obviously had no qualms about attacking a victim who wouldn't and couldn't even fight back, so if any one of the others thought that they'd be the only one jumping in to help her, they run the risk of being beaten themselves and making things worse for Madison just for the sake of the abusers wanting to make a point to prove their dominance. In the end, I fully admit that my little joke wasn't supposed to be taken as a serious reflection of Gabriel and Madison's characters in the movie. I understand there's a lot of factors in play in this scene alone, and I never meant for my silly comment to be taken seriously.

It was at this very moment where Malognant went from good to great to an absolute masterpiece. The transformation, how Gabriel moves, and the viciousness with which he kills everyone in that cell was completely insane. I wouldn't have had it any other way.

I suspected he was a conjoined twin of some sort that was just now haunting Emily. Or found a way to grow into his own person after they removed him. Didn’t expect him to literally be alive in her brain and using the pregnancies to gain strength. It had me thinking about tons of scenarios about how it could play out, but still ultimately surprised me. Brilliant.

This was legit one of my favorite horrors of last year!

When I watch this movie with my mom, I kind of figured out that Gabriel was a parasitic twin early on but THIS scene caught me off guard. The fact that Gabriel was still inside of her and was hijacking her body was a plot twist I was NOT expecting

This whole movie was so campy in a way that I love a lot. Every minute of Gabriel is absolutely over the top and horrifying. I love it.

One of *_THE VERY BEST_* "WTF?!" twist reveals I have ever seen in any movie (horror or otherwise) in all of my 30 years, I was left with a wide-eyed look from this moment on. I have always been a huge fan of James Wan since I first saw _Saw 1_ in 2004 when I was 11, he has really outdone himself with this film, he truly deserves a lot of praise as a filmmaker, he knew full well what kind of movie he was making here. 😃😀

James Wan is a true master of horror! The star Annabelle Wallis has made some bad movies, but these scenes were good. She starred in the first Annabelle movie, but when watching these I thought back to her performance in the disaster that was “The Mummy” and the failed Dark Universe. She totally deserves to be a monster in a Universal horror movie!

Absolutely insane movie. I would’ve been more entertained if the dialogue hadn’t been so goofy (and maybe the plot), but I think I agree with the critics who said that this movie must’ve been intended as self-parody.

I've seen way too many horror movie's to know she was playing a bigger part then what we were lead to believe. I knew it was a alter ego but , this scene gave me the heebie-jeebies on how it played out. Underrated film

James Wan always puts out bangers for horror movies and this one was no exception. It was intriguing and frightening because this is something that really happens in nature.

I remember this movie being really boring up to this point, and this is when it finally got entertaining for me.

ngl that was lowkey the two female inmates' faults they kept grabbing madison by the back of her head and not listening to her when she nice and calmly said she didnt want any trouble

I think what made me loves this twist so much fucking more is that, outside the film of course, I completely expected this to be a paranormal demon film, but the fact that some insane bastards in Hollywood were smart enough to fund this man a high budget B-Movie in spirit of Franke Henenlotter puts me on my ASS.

He remembered ghost Rider in the prison scene, he missed one saying: you're innocent!!

There were several reviewers, ones i actually like, who all said something similar to this movie being good on accident. Or, that they couldn't tell if it was parody/satire, or a genuine horror film. It's all of those things. The director made a horror movie thats also making fun of gross out horror, while also being a love letter to extreme horror. Like Basketcase was. It's less conedic than the original cabin fever, but the opening scene really shows it knows exactly what kind of movie it is, and it does it perfectly. This scene is the high point, and the police station, too.

This movie was awesome

This was the best horror movie of 2021 imo (not that there was much good competition). I just wish they didn’t so explicitly explain everything to the audience.

was a really good twist in a ok movie but by far the funniest rampage scene i’ve ever seen in a movie
