I'm drawn to this place, I hope I can visit it one day, maybe in my dreams, I'd pray at that beautiful 700 year old mosque....that river is so wide, the drone shots give good perspective...just beautiful.
Drone camera completely changed the whole perspective of the whole video.. 👍🏻👌🏻
He wasn’t in Tahiti, so he’s probably here.

The actual sum of approximately 300,000 saved manuscripts is very controversial. A majority of scientists doubt Haidara's supposed heroic deed. He is also accused of fraud. The reproach: the Salafists never had any interest in destroying the manuscripts. Hidara deliberately exaggerated the situation by providing millions of euros in support. The delivered article is therefore not sufficiently critically represented.

That was almost 700 years ago. Timbuktu hasn't been a thriving city since the 1600s. Was laid waste by the Moroccans invasion in 1591 and been swallowed up by the ever encroaching desert since then. There's been some archaeological work and they have recovered artefacts, but no one is yet bothered to recover the old city ruins deep beneath the desert sands, especially with the security situation.

Traditional slave centre of Mali Empire.
trust the french they will solve the problem.
The Europeans are there, too get the Natural resources.
Damn ISIS and other that same in their error mind. They never know what Islam but always say they speak in the name of Islam. Timbuktu just remind me of great old mosque in Kediri, Indonesia, it represent ours history and culture, moslim people of Africa, Asia, Europe, and America have all diversity culture, when speak about Islam, all diversity is just rainbow of beauty.
My DNA is Mali. A lot of Ancestors was sold into Slavery in America.
Worlds richest man in the world and he built a sandcastle LMAO. That mosque is about 600 years old WOW Now, look at the Ziggurat which is about 5000 years old. Now THAT is impressive...

@@blaba2639 You can't construct large buildings if you don't have the materials for it. That was one of Malis issues, all that gold yet so few stones or skilled artisans. I kind of agree with Ren though, the Mali empire has surprisingly little in the way of architectural or cultural heritage.
