I think it is the fate of "Cross Over" singers, they struggle with their "Pop Voice" because they apply their singing technique to the Pop part, the result is very artifical. Some comment that she stares and has strange face movements, because they are used to Pop singers only. It takes more concentration and technique to control the "Opera voice" , that looks artifical too. Otherwise she is a very natural person with great sense of Humor!

Mans Zelmerlöw had to have been in Moscow with Hope and Glory before Malena Ernman. The punishment was very severe and the worst came when they eliminated Sweden in Oslo with Anna Bergendahl. They were qualifying at the last minute and the head of the delegation and former representative Christer Bjorkman had to change the voting system in the Melodifestivalen. This is how in 2011 Sweden regained the honor with Eric Saade to continue with Loreen, Robin Stjenberg, Sanna Nielsen, Mans Zelmerlöw etc.

Those were the worst years for Sweden. They were getting worse and worse results until they fail to Qualify next year, then they decided to make changes to the Mello and the rest is history.

This was my first Eurovision song, I found it in June of 2009 one month after the contest, it was the one of first things I saw on my first computer, ever since than I fell in love with this song and Sweden. I can't believe it's been 7 years of dreaming but today I finally made it to Sweden. I hope I get to see Malena Ernman while I'm here. Sverige är min plats på jorden.

The song is good, but not for a top 10. That year it was for Mans Zelmerlöw and Hope and Glory. Sweden shot themselves in the foot and paid dearly the following year when they cast Anna Bergendahl and This is my Life.

And the two songs were released 10 years apart from each other.

You need to remember that the juries have to rank all the songs of a particular year - this is magnificent, but Malena was competing against "Randajad", "Todas as Ruas do Amor" and "Always", to name just three examples - what was Frans competing against? 2009 was a VERY good year for Eurovision; accordingly, the bar was set higher that year.

Well in 2009, it was impossible for Sweden to gain many points since top 2 were from Scandinavia (Norway & Iceland) and one of them had record breaking points. In 2016, Sweden was the only Scandinavian country in the grand final.

This is Greta Thunbergs mother. Funny story: Since Malena was a singer making performances in many different countries it recuiered her to fly alot. So Greta made her change to another job which she can do on the spot here in Stockholm, Sweden. (It's true)

First song I remember ever from Eurovision and still one of my very faves to this day - what a spray tan and what a dress

My little brother really hated this song back in 2009, and he was only 6 months old back then xD

Малена оперная певица меццо-сопрано. Ее голос звучит красиво, когда она поет в оперной манере. В эстрадной получилось не очень. Это учли Киркоров и Нетребко, и спели дуэтом - эстрадную часть Киркоров, оперную - Нетребко, получилось очень хорошо.

Moscow was the best host ever

Excelente canción que combina con gran acierto lírica y modernidad. Tema fabuloso, realmente delicioso que partía entre los muy favoritos. Malena Ernman canta genial con llamativo estilismo y un coro de lujo! Su vigésima quinta posición con 33 puntos es un tanto insultante, bestial! Me cautivó en su momento y sigo atrapado entre sus notas. 12 Puntazos!

Ese año era para Mans Zelmerlöw y Hope and Glory. Suecia se pegó un tiro en el pie y al año siguiente fue Anna Bergendahl lo pagaron muy caro cuando fueron eliminados. De 2007 a 2010 enviaron canciones de mala calidad. Cambiaron el sistema de votación en 2011 dentro del Melodifestivalen y ahí fue cuando empezó su resurrección con Eric Saade y al año siguiente gana con Euphoria de Loreen.

This is actually pretty good, I wasnt sure for a brief moment, but I like the high notes and I like the stage craft and effects and crew too, they all are working the stage together.

Sooo soo sooo underrated.. Unfair. she has a brilliant voice ... OMG

Still can't believe this wonderful opera singer is the mother of Greta Thunberg.

I love this song, and I ear it endless times!!! I don't intend to be better than no one, but let's face the truth, you have to be educated and cultivated, to learn to recognize the excellence when you ear it. Just the people with a sophisticated taste, fully appreciates this beautiful and unique interpretation, who tries to establish a bridge between classical and pop music. Malena's interpretion in this song, is for me "just" the best ever in the Eurovision contest history.

I wish Sweden would do more like this. Nowadays it's all standard pop music from Sweden :(

Arya Stark - that's because her mom started falling out of the spotlight so she took advantage of the fact that her daughter has clinically diagnosed OCD and fixation/fear of climate change so she shoved her into the public. Yea, when you scare your kid so badly with climate fear mongering that they stop going to school, eating or even speaking you should definitely call the news and put them on TV. Poor Greta.
