Maldives have advanced, remember the airport from 1980, a simple shed,and the short runway planes took off with a terrible roar Our holydays was wonderful never forget Furana Fushi and the people ..all the seashell they gave me which I still have. Greetings from the cold north.

yah, they opened their first resort in the 1970s, Kurumba; the airport still needs a bit of work - there's a large construction site going on around the place. the resorts are certainly world class these days, and the ppl are lovely hosts...

Maldives.....really awesome place. I am from Bangladesh. I have visited 22 countries including western and eastern countries such as Australia, Canada, UK, USA, Netherlands, Turkey, Germany, Scotland, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, New Zealand etc.....But I haven't visited Maldives yet. In Sha Allah, I will visit Maldives next time. Its just a paradise, I think.

On of the beautiful place .peace fully life here. I went for holiday trip to india 1986. on my way to india I arrived here by singapore airlines from singapore . After two days later flying to trivandrum in kerela state, india .

I am planning to visit it soon and I wanted to confirm that I saw on google that Pakistani nationals get visa on arrival in Maldives like most of the other countries do but then I heard a person posting on internet that they demand medical certificates at the airport arrival to get visa on arrival..can you guide me about the arrival process in Maldives or visa on arrival process .. Paradise Island, I've stayed there too, is very good - I went there just after the 2004 tsunami and the Overwater Villas were being repaired - have a photo. I went catamaran sailing there and really enjoyed. Gili Lankanfushi next door charges 5x as much, for very little more. Difficult to differentiate places in Maldives, but certainly price isn't a factor. Paradise Island is very good.

The water spa was wonderful over there. I enjoy the out islands visit, as well as carone sailing.

the resort staff have a list of passengers arriving who will be staying at their resort. so they just wait for their own guests. flights arrive 24hrs a day. as for alcohol - can't bring any in, Male the main capital island dry - no alcohol, can only get alcohol at resort islands and airport hotel. as for departure i'm not sure, i normally buy on arrival. hope that helps ;-)

Once you clear customs.... you can do anything you like, There are boats from airport to Male, the island you see, every 5 minutes for like 2USD. If you're really bored, just go to Traders Hotel rooftop bar, or walk round Male, the local culture. If you're waiting for connection to a 5 star resort, the seaplane terminal has lounges with sleep sofas for a nap and free food/coffee etc. Once you clear customs/immigration at airport... you choose... no 2 hour stipulation. Enjoy

Hahaha - just next door to airport is the airport hotel - Hulhulmale Airport Hotel. They sell beers in the bar. I know the feeling well...
