As much fun as it is to see Cobalt Blue finally rising it's also sad to see how the Negative Speed Force has been torturing him and turning his life upside down with showing him all of what Eddie lived through until all that there is is envy and rage to Barry for living the life with Iris that he has been deluded to think that it was his life. Malcolm has been groomed to believe in all this to a point of madness and all is almost ready for him to become the new avatar. All the pieces are ready, just for him to start feeling anger to Barry which the Negative SF will feed off and his journey into Cobalt Blue will be complete.

Him being Eddie instead of a new character can bring so much more nostalgia and emotions than saying that he is an unknown brother of Barry-he had one already, Wally. Him being Eddie made the event a bit more personal with Barry. A dear dead friend who resurfaces 9 years later.

At first it was neither. The Thawnes that came back were younger versions that hadn't been trapped in the past, like thawne who didnt know barrys name. but once black flash killed the remnants, the paradox was corrected, he did his time. so eddie came back to life sometime between season 3 and four of the flash which is when he died in legends.

No matter what timeline it is, Thawne will always be alive.

This could explain why Reverse Flash kept coming back, because there was a semblance of this Eddie out there. Plus with Flashpoint,Crisis and Reverse Flashpoint messing things up, there’s no wonder why Eddie was able to come back.

Nah this is just a bad script. The RF in legends was running from the black flash because of the events from seaason 1, and needed that staff just to avoid death. This shouldn't be Eddie, it would be much better if this was a version of him from another timeline or earth. The RF always finds a loophole but his history is super flawed. The negative speedforce would never send a time wraith after him. Also, the negative speed force wouldn't leave him stuck in the past. Also why would he need the Flash in order to exist since the negative speedforce exists as an opposite of the speedforce.

@Sno if that is the case, then explain the negative speedforce trying to eliminate the regular speedforce. Look I like the show, but it is full of contradictions. The RF was suppossed to be erased from existence after Eddie shot himself and only existed as a time remmnant. When Flashpoint occurred it changed the timeline on that earth and that version of the RF definitely was trying to dodge the black flash due to impending death from the season 1 events. But isn't the black flash part of the speedforce? Easy way to avoid that thing would be to hide in the negative speedforce. No matter how you slice it, a lot of the writing has to make up for things that were not well thought out.

And with the reason that Eddie killed himself being removed, he'd be resurrected once more and since his body was snatched by the singularity, it time displaced him in 2049 and probs gave him a fake memory of being Malcome Glimore. So even after The Black Flash corrected the Thawne paradox, with Eddie still being alive, Eobard kept coming back *because* his ancestor was still alive and kicking. Therefore, he wouldn't be erased from existence since his relative still exists. This is amazing and I can't wait to see how it all ends.

Man, why is Eric Wallace finally giving us great episodes? Dude has been the show runner for the show a couple years now and he's only had a couple good episodes, now the series is in its final stretch of episodes and is finally giving people great episodes. Like, it's cool to see that Eddie is back. I really like how they are bringing the final stretch back to the first season. Hopefully these last two episodes continue to be great.

Kionne’s journey is the most adhoc thing ever. I mean, this show should have ended 3 seasons ago but this last character arc really puts it into perspective

I think that when the negative speed force struck Malcolm in episode 10 it has been changing part of his life and showing him stuff to make him believe that he is someone that he isn't. I feel like this is how they will introduce Cobalt Blue.

Oh man the visuals notice how u see the blue light reflect of of chesters glasses when Barry vanishes

Zoom returning and introduction of colbat blue at the same time is a literal miracle. I’m so glad that while this show has had almost more cons than it has had pros in the last few years despite the fact that season 1-3 were masterpieces in terms of writing, acting, and VFX, that the final storyline of the show is being written on such a genius level. It still may not have the best writing in the world, and yes, obviously the VFX’s are still downgraded, but I think we can all agree so far the “new world” storyline has been much better than we’ve all expected despite little nit-pics. Just the fact alone of Eddie Thawn being the final villain is so fitting for multiple reasons. Him wanting revenge on Barry is so obvious yet it works so well because dang it it’s actually a great motive in comparison to let’s say his ancestor, Eobard Thawn. This might be the best motive for a villain on the show and having him convert to the dark side similar to Thawn is even more fitting, as once said by Eddie, “nothing is a consequence,” including the fact that Barry and Iris are married, and Eddie’s bloodline relationship with Eobard. Having what once was considered a hero on the show being shed in this light while having it actually make sense is so awesome on so many levels. No matter good or evil, I’m glad Eddie has returned as he was awesome in season 1 as he was battling for Iris’ love with Barry and having him bring back past villains is also fans service done right.

Wdym Zoom? The VFX have been an upgrade compared to a few earlier seasons, like when Red Death and Flash were running and fighting, the part where Flash and Kid Flash were running as well looked better. But this latest episode was weak, the Eddie stuff was the best, I wish we didn’t have the Kione story.

We did see a necklace (with a blue gem? at the center) in Eddie’s last shot before he got sucked into the Singularity (something that was still shown in Malcolm’s flashbacks). While that was just an Easter Egg of the character Eddie was based on, for now this very much tracks.

@@michaelwilson-xw4hz Malcom never existed, he was Eddie Thawne the *entire* time. It's just his memories were locked away and he lived his life as Dr. Malcom Glimore, once he got hit by lightning though, he started to remember who he really is and finally reached the end of the tunnel and found out the truth in a horrifying way; the reason Malcom looks like Eddie is because he *IS* Eddie Thawne. All the way down to the literal bullet he put in his chest... it makes sense now. The singularity revived him and then time displaced him into the future and he's been there all this time. So every time Eobard kept coming back, it was because Eddie had never stayed dead. Because he was alive all this time and now he's an avatar of The Negative Speed Force, just like Barry is an avatar of the Speed Force. Now we'll see how Thawne line continues and how the deadly feud between the Allen and Thawne families come to be. (At least in the show, I don't know ANYTHING about the comics.)

so his body was probably in a state of suspended animation when he went into the black hole. if ronnie's physical body got revived, no reason why eddie couldn't have been. there are still some missing pieces of the puzzle.

@@samuelefesoa7317 It just didn't make sense to me. Eddie is basically the starting line of the Thawne bloodline, without Eddie, there shouldn't be Eobard Thawne alive, not even his time remnant. It's like those photos of how a plant is made or a bug's life. You take one out, you can't do the rest. Like if you take out giving the plant water, it doesn't grow. Or, if you have a family of five people, a mom, a dad, and three daughters. If you take out the mom, the daughters wouldn't be born. So if you take Eddie out, Eobard Thawne wouldn't be born.

If Eddie is alive then Thawne from Season 1 episode 23 might not be erased

The thing is thawne was never erased just was trapped until he resurrected himself by using the negative speed force which is immune to timeline changes ergo he was never erased in the first place

He came back in crisis in earth x as wells, and then was imprisoned in the year 2049 by cicada’s dagger which had dampened his speed and you know the rest

I just had a feeling a while ago that Eddie was still alive, because how on earth would Eobard come back after that? Must've been Eddie was brought back to life, somehow, and he lost his memories and maybe gained them the same day he was placed into the future? (I assume it's the future)

I think the wormhole created by Barry going back in time in s1, could be a portal of a source of Negative Speedforce... And Eddie chosen by the Cobalt Radiation or the Negative Speedforce itself.

season 2 finale was being the last good episode until season 9 episode 9

2 episodes left... we might only get the battle in the last... i wish we had few more episodes... I also wonder, if, as Cobalt Blue, he will have the blue Lightnings, considering he might be linked to Negative Speedforce, it might be red...

He regained consciousness and was in between time meaning it was in him for 9 years when he regained memory’s he was no longer Malcom and remembered he is Eddie hence the moment he died he got shot boom it’s a loop ! His future self or time it’s self wiped his memory

Show is all over the place, but I very much appreciate bringing Eddie and Rick back for the final season

God! How many times thawne died in every timeline, still he lives.....

I still say itd be a cool easter egg to hit towards the end that Eddie is Barry's long lost brother

Wow, according to the tomb stone, Eddie was born in 1983. That means he was only 6 years older than Iris and Barry. IDK why, but I thought he was closer to like 40 or so, which would have made the gap like 12-13 years. IDK, he just seemed much more experienced and founded in his life than either of them in season 1 (although it makes sense his birth year since Cosnett himself was also born in 1983, and this is the first time in a long ass time i seen the actor and the character actually be the same age).

Eddie thawne and his descendant eobard are actually in my book because it is revealed that Eddie in Another Universe became the reverse flash which is why he brought all of his descendants from various timelines and I guess you can say metaphorically speaking he is basically the Don Eddie thawne of the reverse-flash crime family

I am so behind that I have no clue what's going on at this moment lmao.

Same. It's thanks to Rick Cosnett's acting and Blake Neely's score. Honorable mention to how that version of The Blues keeps playing every time Malcolm was remembering what Eddie lived but it's start to become more delusional and like his mind cracking.
