    "Lemak" does not only mean fat or oily. The word "lemak" in Bahasa Malaysia is also used to describe rich, creamy and/or savoury flavour profile. The incorrect translation of the word "lemak" does injustice to nasi lemak, which is a well balanced meal and tastes heavenly.

    I hope people know that not only Indonesian using the language. Malaysia, brunei, singapore, Indonesia and many more using the same language so if you learn malay, you can use it to more 5 countries 😂 Edit: i know this would make everyone brought up their own country names for malay language so i alr stated 'many more' '5 more countries' means you could use to more than 5 countries that i alr stated above. I couldnt just stated every single of asian countries that using malay. Malay language came from malaya n it was a language that mostly using in asian during trading long time ago. We r from the same place but different regions. Some of the phrases we could understand in the same meaning n way. So dont be like 'i dont understand malay. Malay n our language r different'. IT IS DIFFERENT but long time ago malay language was using to many countries but it was improvise during time to time n now it's little different. Its just some of the phrases n words that we using are actually the same.

    Actually the explanations about thaipusam about people piercing their mouth is not exactly right. We do that as offerings to Lord Murugan because we believe that when we do those offerings, he helps us. Also, the ones doing that they usually dont feel pain but that depends on the person. But anyways good job and thank you Khalid on actually bringing up our culture on National Korean TV

  • @zaiissssss

    @zaiissssss

    Жыл бұрын

    @@mohdzaki1089 good question. ponggal is actually a harvest festival. We celebrate it to thank the Sun, Mother Nature and also the farm animals, which are cows and buffaloes and all that sort because those animals help contribute to a bountiful harvest. So thats why we can't eat cow meat. Thaipusam is actually a celebration for Lord Murugan, the son of Lord Shiva because it is believed that he defeated the Asuras, meaning the bad guys by the Vel (divine spear) that his mother, Goddess Parvati presented to him. But some also says that Thaipusam is celebrated because it marks Lord Murugan's birthday which falls on either May or June and his astrology star is known as "Pusam" which is the original word for Thaipusam

    I would like to correct the statement from our fellow Khalid here about Thaipusam. The reason that devotees pierce their body is not solely for sacrifice. Lord Muruga is known has lord of war and widely devoted by Tamil people. He is called as Tamil kadaval Murugar (Tamil God). Piercing is done during that time to get immune with exposure of sharp entities and to get prepare for war. Gradually it became a norm in conjunction with Thaipusam to associate with boldness, courage and virility and a form a sacrifice and self disciplinary. Thank you From Malaysian - Tamizh girl

    This is so controversial lol.. indo and malay are actually from the same colony at one time and separated and became 2 different races.. that's why we share similar foods.. so yeah , nasi lemak isn't technically from Malaysia or Indonesia.. it's a culture food and we both own it.. so yeah
