MALAYSIA, PULAU PERHENTIAN BESAR, was it WORTH IT?

Hello and welcome back! Jay and I went JUNGLE TREKKING and explored the some BEAUTIFUL BEACHES in the PERHENTIAN islands, was it WORTH IT? It wasn't something that was really on our list to do while here in Malaysia, but we soon realized from our wattstraveling subscribers that it was a place we MUST visit! Even with the monsoon season on the horizon we decided to take the chance and explore, and I'm so happy we did. Our jungle trek was fun, hot and sweaty but WORTH the hike through the jungle to the beautiful beaches that await on the other end! I hope you enjoy our adventure! Not many consider Malaysia as a budget destination. However, you and Jay have proven them wrong. I've been to Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and for me, Malaysia can be considered to have the lowest cost of living in the Southeast Asian region. In fact, Malaysia is the top 5 most visited country in Asia and world's top 15.

Greetings from Kanata, Ontario, Canada! Gosh! I missed those islands! I used to scuba dive in Palau Perhentian and Pulau Redang. Watch out for leeches when trekking. It got me good at Perhentian, luckily I completed my last dive, because of the bleeding individuals are not allow to dive because of some bleeding, may attract sharks!

I went to Pulau Perinthian in 1995, when there was nothing except a few A-frame huts to stay in. It still looks fantastic, but back then it felt way more like pioneering.

@@wattstraveling the main difference between Redang and Perhentian is Redang is family oriented while Perhentian is party oriented. Also Perhentian is very badly managed. The facilities are worn down and rubbish is just everywhere. Redang is just excellent, at least in 2020.

2 thumbs up for getting to and staying in perhentian island. But you two didn't do snorkeling at all? Personally I prefer perhentian kecil than perhentian besar, because I feel perhentian besar has been a little bit more commercialised, but this was pre covid, haven't been to either island for some time now. I loved snorkeling, either foc (just rent the simple gears if you don't bring your own) in the nearby waters just off the beach, or in deep waters where you pay for the boat ride and gears for an island-hopping excursion. Anyway, you two are going to the city of Ipoh next? Stay safe and have loads of fun!
