Malaysia CHANGED Everything! (3 Must-Try Foods!)

What's up, Yaaguu7 squad? Today, I'm diving into a topic that's deliciously close to my heart - my love affair with Malaysian cuisine. 🇲🇾❤️ I kicked things off with a cheeky bait - claiming Kuala Lumpur has the worst food, only to confess it's actually a culinary paradise! Gotcha! 😉 Let's see who jumped to the comments first.
Join me as I recount my culinary journey through KL, starting with an unforgettable introduction to Tinggiri (aka Kingfish) by "Mummy," a master chef who transformed my taste buds forever. 🐟✨ Landing in KL, starving and clueless about the local food scene, I was welcomed with the most delectable home-cooked Tinggiri, marking my first, mind-blowing meal in Asia.
Next up, the iconic Nasi Lemak at Madame Kwan's - a dish so beautifully crafted, it left me in awe of Malaysia's national treasure. 🍛🌟 Despite my initial skepticism towards fish and anchovies (coming from Canada, where our food scene... let's just say, lacks diversity), Nasi Lemak won my heart, solidifying its place as a must-try for anyone stepping foot in Malaysia.
But the crown jewel of my Malaysian food adventure? Beef Rendang. 🥘💖 This dish, with its rich flavors and tender beef, became my obsession. I scoured restaurants, street vendors, and even airports to get my fix, proving that true love does exist, and it's spelled B-E-E-F R-E-N-D-A-N-G.
Through these experiences, I learned a valuable lesson - food courts and street food in Malaysia are worlds apart from what we're used to in Canada. It’s not just about filling your stomach; it's an adventure for your taste buds, a dive into the heart of Malaysian culture.
So, there you have it, folks - my top 3 savory foods in KL that took me from a cautious tourist to a fervent lover of all things Malaysian cuisine. 🌍🍴What about you? Have any Malaysian dishes captured your heart? Drop your favorites in the comments below, share this video with fellow food lovers, and don't forget to hit that subscribe button for more culinary journeys with me! 📹🔔

    You're watching Jetlag Warriors channel, isn't it? If you love rendang, you gotta be here during Eid. There'll be rendang served almost in every house for Eid open house. But first, you have to be invited to the open house for you to enjoy a free unlimited rendang available in that house.

    In Malaysia you find your favorite food and then you eat this all the time and don't try much else. But then one day you do try something else and then that becomes your new favorite dish and then that is all you want to eat and next thing you know you've lived there for 20 years and realize you haven't tried that many dishes and there is such a wide selection more than I've seen in other places! More astonishingly I find there are new dishes created all the time. I mean 1 lifetime is not enough to try all the dishes in Malaysia in all the regions it seems! LOL

    Been living in Melbourne for 10 years but I left Malaysia since 2004, first country was USA. So I am used to missing Malaysian food. Well, there’s a lot that I miss about Malaysian food. I would say Lemang, Ayam Masak Merah and some traditional kuih (sweet) but if I do, I will just have to cook it myself. Not an issue but getting the ingredients is slightly hard. We do have Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne but it’s a short cut version of everything but we can still find few that taste as good but it’s expensive as f!

    i wonder if you have try all Malaysian cuisine? I kinda surprise when you mentioned tenggiri as the 1st in your list. Hahahah coz yaa i know most mat salih doesn't eat fish like we Malaysian do. wonder what was the tenggiri fish has been cooked as? buyt ya...its meaty fish and tender. To my taste, "asam pedas tenggiri" is the bomb! try it out once you touch down KL soon. Do travel further to Melaka and look after restaurant "Asam Pedas Claypot Restoran Kota Laksamana" the authentic asam pedas I must say :) CAUTION of the hot, be prepared and expect the spiciness :)

  • @yaaguu7

    @yaaguu7

    2 ай бұрын

    Okay so I asked mummy how the ikan tenggiri was cooked: it was cooked in sambal. There was no asam in it. I stayed with my “Malaysian Family” in KL so that probably meant I was lucky enough to try things I wouldn’t have otherwise. I tried char kuey teow and roti canai too. And ramlee burger too (but you would probably expect that from mat salih haha). I also tried kuih lapis. It’s the bomb 💣 I am going to Melaka on my next trip (at the end of the year) and I will definitely check out the restaurant you recommended!!!
