I really want to know how the candidates for the Malayan anthem back in the 50's sounds like. We are taught in history class in middle school that there was a committee on choosing the new Malayan national anthem (20:02), of which they selected a few songs and the police marching band played all the shortlisted songs in a function. But still, I'm proud of my national anthem. I can sing 44 other national anthems but still, with pride, I think mine is the best.

I don't have a concrete facts, but from what I read, the song titled 'Malayan Moon' was very very popular among the British officers by late 1930s. I believed Tunku also picked the tune during that period. Hence my hypothesis would summarize even there was a committee to select our new national anthem, somehow or rather Tunku have already decided. Its a beautiful tune and a bit melancholic. Did Tunku make the right decision? I think that was subjective too.. Coz I'm myself think Malaya should stay tight within the British Commonwealth/ as FMS instead of gaining full independence. But that just my personal thoughts.

terang bulan was taken from la rosalie and Allah Lanjutkan Usia Sultan (Perak anthem) was taken from la rosalie while Negaraku was taken from Allah Lanjutkan Usia Sultan (Perak anthem) So it basically like this la Rosalie (1780-1857) -> terang bulan (1900s) la Rosalie (1780-1857) -> Allah Lanjutkan Usia Sultan(1880s) -> Negaraku (1957) so negaraku isnt from terang bulan but from Allah Lanjutkan Usia Sultan (Perak anthem) and Allah Lanjutkan Usia Sultan is from la rosalie while terang bulan is from la rosalie.

@@jacklon8702 "yang pasti mcm Singapore" 😂 kau fikir syarat untuk jadi negara maju ni kaya ja kah ? Banyak lagi negara diluar sana yang jauh lebih kaya dari Sabah Sarawak tapi mereka juga belum mampu untuk mencapai taraf negara maju. Contohnya Qatar, Brunei, China dll..kalaupun 2 negeri ni keluar dari Malaysia, belum tentu menteri² yg memimpin tu jujur & amanah..jgn² masuk poket sendiri 😂 hard to face reality..tambahan lagi, HDI 2 negeri ni antara yang terendah dalam Malaysia ni..

@@thisuserishakim1762 trs npa mcm kau takut klo sabah dan sarawak keluar Malaysia takut nnty semenanjung jd negara termiskin ka...minyak kmi hanya diberikan 5% sedangkan kmi pengeluar minyak terbesar...hak MA63 tdk dilaksanakan...apa yg kerajaan nyatakan hanyala mengkaji itu ja sampai dunia kiamat....lebih baik memerintah sendiri...ptt belajar balik sejarah sblm komen
