7 years after posted one of the best videos you'll ever see, brilliant
The internet is full of people who "teach" the Golf swing however only a few seem to actually know what they are talking about, you sir definitely know the golf swing, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
I have been watching your videos for about a month and it took a while to get it since your instruction is like nothing else out there. Well in four weeks you have transformed my game. I just won a seniors comp, my handicap is coming down rapidly and I just love it. In 4 weeks more progress than in 40 years. Thank you.

This reminds me of how the golf swing felt when I was a young player before the confusion of lag and club swallowing entered my thinking. Thanks

You got that right! He is the BEST!
Best golf instruction video I've ever seen. Makes totally sense and i realize where I have been going wrong for so many years. I was always capable of hitting some good shots but was also so inconsistent. After 6 weeks of practice after watching this I'm now shooting consistently in the late 70's / early 80's. Hardly practice now, just play and love it :)
This is pure gold and huge for initial direction accuracy. Mike explains things so clearly.
The way Mike explains it feels so simple relaxing and fun to play the game at a high level
Spectacular instruction! Takes all those timing and flipping the club issues and throws them out the window. And this works and feels so natural, this is the method to get easy looking swing that sends the ball a mile! Thanks Mike, a game changer video!
THANK YOU!!! I JUST FELT THE GOLF SWING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE!!! The feeling of rotating your forearms!!! Now I know how everyone with a short backswing can create sooo much power!! Anyone reading this stand up and stick your arms out in front of you in a golf grip, now put your elbows into your stomach and only move your hands. Turn your right palm up to the sky now your left palm to the sky, keep doing it over and over, feel it in your forearms! Now imagine the golf drill you have seen many times before where someone has a ball stuck between their arms, now stick your arms straight out and imagine there is a ball between your arms and do the same movement and rotate your forearms back and forth one palm to the sky other palm to the sky. After you get that down just turn your lower body as you're doing it to square the clubface to the ball. Boom Golf solved!!! THANK YOU MR MALASKA!!!!!

Bro how stoked were you when you wrote this comment lmao? Don’t you love those aha moments?
This guy is blowing my mind since I stumbled across his channel yesterday
Malaska is so far ahead of the rest of the golf teachers, it is laughable. Most everything he says is filled with sage advice
WO!!! I’ve only been playing for 35 years and I’ve never been taught about pivot points and how the club handle and shaft and clubhead need to work on the downswing! By far the best instruction I’ve ever seen. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Mike is a genius, best on KZread
After 40 some years of golf I'm just now discovering this. Thank you so much for bringing this to us. what we all thought was lag isn't "lag" at all. Hell.. put the club in the right position and it goes fast. Your 20 year handicap has been the same as mine. I would get stuck or couldn't catch up... or hook. Thanks SO much !!
Mike exposes that correct (effect from cause) and incorrect (artificial) lag looks the same! This is hugely important given all the instructional pretenders here on You Tube! Remember what Mike said happened to him. He handicapped a large part of career from bad advice. Mike, your videos just keep getting better and better! Thanks a lot!
Just came across this coming up to 5 years after publication. There is something really compelling about this analysis of pivot points. I stopped the video several times to unboggle my brain. Now I'm going to watch it again.
Eureka moment here! You won't see any teacher showing this movement. Mr Malaska thank you só much for revealing how it is done. Closest thing of how actually the pros hit the ball.
If I know this video three years earlier, it would save me 3 years hard work to get rid of "over the top" . Thank you Mr. Malaska.
Thank Mike, for demonstrating the difference of natural lag and artificial lag. This is something new to me, I am gonna trying it.
This is the best "Over The Top" explanation I have EVER seen in my life. Now I don't feel bad for having done it initially and now know what my body was trying to compensate for. Legendary Instruction!!!
Spot on Mr Malaska. Thank you for the great video as always. It really helps me a great deal.
best video on lag and release ive ever seen, Thank you Mike
This video is an absolute gem. My favorite Malaska video
Game changer!! This really helped me so much. I finally broke 90 this week. Thanks for all your helpful instructions!
One of the best of his many great explanations and the first video to make me fully understand how to work the club in transition.
This is the single most effective video of the golf swing I have ever seen.
This man is a golf genius. How dare someone dislike the video. Thanks for the insight Mike!
Mike, I started taking golf seriously when I was in my forties. I wish I had you as my teacher then. I suffered through countless lessons with several instructors over the years, trying to decipher what they meant by their "helpful advice". My improvement as a golfer, achieved gradually over many years of practice and play, came mostly through self-feedback at the cost of a lot of frustration. Just this year an instructor used phrases such as "casting the club", "over the top" and "chicken wing" as guides to correcting my pull-hook left. A couple of weeks ago I ran across your instructional videos and realized that what my instructors were addressing were the symptoms and not the causes of my trouble. Thank you. The "what" is accompanied by the "why", and the why touches on faults that no other teacher has articulated. I'll be watching from now on.
Probably one of the best videos I’ve seen mAking it such a simple swing patch. Thank you!
Thanks Mike. This is a brilliant piece of instruction...particularly the section where you explain the futility of trying to hold off the downswing pivot. Another piece of the puzzle has fallen into place for me!
Thank you sir! I will not watch any other teaching videos. This man makes so much sense and clears up the workings of the golf swing!
Probably the best video I've seen on lag. Period!!!!! Thanks.
I agree with "R", Mike is soooo ahead with any other golf teachers I have come around! And yes, that artificial "lag" is every players enemy and yet, most "instructors" make a point how important it is... ! Thank you Mike Malaska!

I have been a victim as much as the next man. Rubbish advice about holding the angles, right elbow chasing the ball, left knee left hip firing, right wrist angle into impact, keeping the club in the slot etc *Sigh*
Can’t believe such good teacher in KZread. Thanks Mike👍🏻
Thank you Mike, I've never had this explained as well as you have here...Great Great Job!!
Your videos are nothing but incredible. ..detailed. thank you
Finally someone makes a lot of sense the simple way. Thanks Mike. You just great.
best video ever explaining the swing issues stuck behind and over the top. excellent sir!!!
Yes, this works very quickly, purer contact and straighter shots. Glad I found this, thanks.
CBS's commentary on the swing was always from the front and you'd Freddie Couples amazing swing and it was always look at the lag in front of his body and look at how he moves his hips forward at least an inch to two inches toward the target. No mention of the face of the club because it was all in the swing. You had to have the swing to repeat what he was doing. So glad you're showing how the hands work with the club. How the hands provide the connection of the face and it's not the looks of the swing. I recall some lessons I took and it wasn't the club face contacting the ball it was let me show you how to swing the club which felt very ackward. Take the club back as straight as you can as far as you can then take it straight up. How is that going around my body? Thanks for clearing all of this up.
that's a perfect illustration on the difference between "casting" the club and trust the tool to get the job done. Your explanation on the transition and downward motion/arm rotation is brilliant. Bravo !
Another brilliant video, Mike!
Once u have this concept down and ingrained in muscle memory, u can finally think about having just one tempo for all your clubs. And i promise u.. the ball will fly straight, u will feel like golf is the easiest game in the world. U will finally have a reliable golf swing. No more struggling for hours at the range trying to find ur swing again because u won' lose it. LOL Its like learning to ride a bike. Once u learned it, there is no relearning. U just do it.

I know what you mean. I had it but I did lose it :( So last night, I did the tennis racquet drill and got a bit more understanding of this swing. Part of the problem is that I'm afraid of hitting the ground behind the ball or hooking it.
You have learnt me so much mike just watching your videos I wish I could have a week one on one lesson with you I will just have to keep watching your videos keep up the great work all the best jimmy London
By far this is the most important & the very best golf lesson to me. To me, "this is it". Thank you for sharing this valuable tip, Mr. Malaska!
Thank you vey much Mike , superb!!!! You are the only true golf teacher for me
Excellent, outstanding, wonderful. I understand it when he says it!
This is awesome stuff!
Wow, this is a total eye opener! Makes a ton of sense; inarguably great instruction. I hope I can get this working on the next range visit.
This video is nothing short of amazing instruction. I've been slicing the ball for a year now and I now draw the ball to slight fade miss. Just watching Mikes videos. Thanks bud!
Mike I know your probably not gonna read this but ,,I've watched 5 videos of your today ,,let me just say there 4 to5 years old!!! I've seen you talk about information being around for years and years yes ok it has BUT a big But no one I mean no one has taken all this information got educated and learned everything out there there is to learn,,,and put it together like yourself no one!!!! I would love to see you give yourself some credit about what your teaching because it matters to the student to see you excepting credit!!! That's all Mike just wanna say your the best out there no doubt about it (Fact) thanks Mike!!!!
WOW!!! 40+ years playing golf at high level (between 0 and 3 hcp) never heard nothing like this. That's awesome technique . I tried it at driving range and the ball really rocket. I will practice it more since it looks to me that really works! Thank you Mike for sharing this with us in such a simple way.
Fantastic presentation and demonstration of what actually happens.”Don’t just play, understand it “ nicely shared Mike
Hi Mike, just about every new golf swing thought brings with it a new feel, never did i imagine burning shoulders would be one i needed to go through ,,,but yeap i do.. thanks for the tutorship now back to the burn..
Haven't found this quality instruction, for free at least, anywhere on the internet. Thanks so much!
Great explanation Mike.
Absolutely love it. You rock.
Brilliantly explained.
LOVING YOUR EXPLANATIONS !!! TY
I took this concept to the range and almost IMMEDIATELY started hitting my mid to long irons much better. (Something I've always struggled with due to coming over the top) Thanks Mike!!
Mike I am so Glad that I saw your site. I had an agonising time and was completely lost. You are just fantastic. I small feeling I had and thought I tell you is when the club face is flipping over a small nudge on my left wrist away from the target stops my left arm chasing the club head. The snap over from the momentum of the club is further aided.
Great concept "Natural Lag". Amazing!
Brilliant Explanation👍thank you Mike
Thanks for the great explanation.
Impressive instruction. Well done!
Thanks for making this free info for all!
Perfect teaching 👌
Now that's a great teacher . Thank you sir
This is real good, concept- and practice-wise.
Excellent instruction,
Great stuff. Thanks you.
Been playing for 30+ years in the last 5 or six years to about 5 handicap. Always struggling back and forth with going to a more body driven swing with the core to a mix between the two. But always searching and never really getting consistent distance. Have it one day and searching the next. I swear I have about 5 different ways to swing a golf club and still score ok relying on my short game. Shoot anywhere from par to about an 82. Just a mental mess always looking for something new. All that has changing now that I have been following Mike Malaska's instruction via his videos online. Wow! What a breath of fresh air. I have discovered more distance at 48 years old than I had at 28. In my case it really boils down to the fact that I had forgot how to truly release a golf club. All this rotate your core release with your body which I'm sure works well for some but has cost me distance and made me forget that I have a pair of hands to hit the ball with. All I can say is Mike Malaska is the best instruction I've come across that has made a major difference in my game and I have looked at a ton of it. Thanks Mike! Keep it coming!

Babyo92412 you sound like me always trying something new not sticking .
I recommend you pay attention to this I’ve never heard this description, working great for my pulls. !.
Great instruction!
This is a great video! Struggled with the over the top move he describes coming inside too early. When you employ the correct moves as pointed out the ball just effortlessly jumps of the club face. You can swing easier and get a good result. Thanks Mike.
Brilliant Mike it all make sense 👍
maybe the greatest insight ever on the swing
Makes perfect sense, just a brand new concept to me. Makes me wonder where to get best instruction.
Geniuos instruction!!!
Einstein had done his job as a physicist. This man has completed his work as a golf instructor. Thank you, sir!
Brilliant explanation of a tricky subject
First ever 'swing thought' to actually improve my game for more than a week or 2. 'Hands in, club/clubhead out' and bingo! The game almost seems easy now ALTHOUGH the missing link is the back swing. However, having been studying and trying out Leadbetter's A-swing before coming across mr Malaska, I have found doing the A-Swing takeaway combined with the Malaska 'feel' on the way down, is making ball striking a pure pleasure. Best example of this 'hybrid' swing ('Leadbetter/Malaska') is Lydia Ko. Being male myself, trying to emulate Ms Ko will still be more beneficial to most men rather trying to copy Tiger or Rory etc. 99.9% of us mortals will never ever be able to get anywhere near their swing mechanics and rhythm etc. Now 3-5 over instead of 7-9 over consistently and that's mainly down to a few missed putts or chips here and there. Tee to (around the) green I'm literally a scratch golfer now. Thanks Mike, brilliant.
Mike thanks for advice. .. hitting with purpose and know what went wrong...my woods have never been straighter ..push right and wild hooks are disappearing
I’ve tried many programs over the past few years in search of a simple and repeatable swing. I had immediate success with this swing and would highly recommend it to any level. My index is currently a 3.5. I’m anxious to see my future results.
Ask an Engineer about this move relative to a tool and he will tell you that you are exactly CORRECT!! GREAT explanation Mike!
Great insight
It's almost like other golf instructors ( whether meaning to or not) make the golf swing so complicated to time in pursuit of power and speed that their instruction leaves most in a worse position to be accurate. I've adopted Mike's Swing approach and am finding it easy and repeatable. This is what the recreational golfer needs to keep it in the fairway and lower their score. Even when I get a little out of sync I am still able to save the shot, where these other late lag pulling the club handle forward teachings give you no chance to do so
Thx for everything, realy a gerat help to become a beter player.
Thank you mike~^^
great video.!!
I´m glad that you share this video! I have read your book and try to learn this concept. I like this swing and it feels much easier to repeat. Can you use also ball between your hands to feel more connected? Anyway these videos are great bonus! Thank you!!
I dont know how I found your site, but thank goodness I did because I have tried about 10 different swing styles and my handicap hasnot changed in a good while. I have practiced for 2 days and I cannot believe how good Im striking the ball without all the contortions I previously went thru. Thank you Mike from the sunny Bay of Plenty in New Zealand.
Mike is a step by step guy. Swing at half speed. I never practice anymore at full speed. It allows you to get the proper feel. Once you take the distance stress out you can really work on these concepts. The only time I swing at full speed is warmup before a round and only the last few balls and when I play. Sometimes I have played a whole round at 3/4 speed and actually hit the ball further. You can't really get this move unless your swing is properly from the start. I tried to rush right into this without realizing that I had many more bad habits than I thought. I had to start over from the start.
THE BEST COACH online
This is brill👍⛳
Babyo that is like reading a comment from myself! I switch between swing types all of the time. Armsy, handsy, all turn, high hands low hands etc. etc. You change to one and it works. Until it doesn’t work! I’ve never hit the ball well and had it last any time, and I don’t expect it to.
7:24 ish "Artificial Lag" is golden 🥇
AWESOME!!!!!
One thing I learned on Mike's website is that your backswing has to be correct before you can do this. Mine never was. Once I had my backswing proper this part was easy. Once you know you have the proper grip, posture and setup which I did. I still couldn't do this without struggling. Once I built my backswing correctly the rest fell into place
Your knowledge is priceless Mike and so is your theory; however in parts this video is the reason why I believe Many don't get your genius. The demonstration and positioning of the club dropping and the rotation of the left arm seems to be a little misleading to me. In one of your other videos you explain the arms drop down and the left arm rotates while what seems to be "BEHIND" the body. Getting this; has been priceless in Me being able understand and orchestrate your invaluable knowledge. Thanks for your great work.
Thanks 100 % correct!! Probably why Nicklaus wanted his right shoulder to stay back so his hands could drop in properly. Watch Justin Rose practice this before he hits a shot.
