By pure luck, I recently found (on eBay of all places!) the actual manuscript copy in George's hand for the final movement of this piece, the 'Spiral Galaxy'/Aquarius. Since almost (if not all) of Crumb's manuscripts are now in the Library of Congress, and I've never seen another manuscript by him on the open market or in a private collection, this was astonishing (to say the least). I've taken it to a paper conservator/framer to have it properly conserved and framed - pretty darn thrilled to add it to my collection...

Hope it was carefully authenticated. When I was in conservatory many composition students were having fun copying this very novel (fifty-five years ago) notation. If authentic, I would think it's worth some fairly serious coin. Remember, Crumb's compositions were also works of visual art and recognized as such by many in that world.

There is a certain brand of composer who is much more interested in how cool the music looks on the page than how it sounds. I admit that it does look cool, but I would definitely get a lot more enjoyment out of this piece by looking at the notation without hearing it, rather than hearing it without seeing the notation.

No.3 Pastorale really sounds like some sort of bird-song, much more so than a lot os Messiaen's stuff.

This made some spell on me... just a question maybe I do not understand clearly. Who plays what? 1 and 2 Jo Boatright 3 Laurie Hudicek 4 Andrew Russo 5 to 12 Laurie Hudicek Is that correct? Does somebody is able to answer to me?
V beautgul
Don't be over surprised with the sheet, Its just ridiculously specific.
There is a certain brand of composer who is much more interested in how cool the music looks on the page than how it sounds. I admit that it does look cool, but I would definitely get a lot more enjoyment out of this piece by looking at the notation without hearing it, rather than hearing it without seeing the notation.

They're the initials of dedicatees (each I believe with the corresponding zodiac sign), slightly obscured in the manner of Elgar's Enigma Variations.
