Makishi Dance - Kanda Unguveta
Музыка
Makisi or makishi are the masquerades of the Ngangela, Tchokwe and Luena (Luvale) people of Angola, DRC, Namibia and Zambia. They appear and dance in village square during the coming-of-age rites for the boys.
"Culture survives in smaller spaces - not in the history books that erect monuments to the nation's grand history but in cafes and cinema houses, village squares, and half-forgotten libraries." - Amitava Kumar.
Special thanks to Kapalu Lizambo and Lenga Navo culture Group, Josephine and her group for these wonderful performances. Kavumbi na ciyulo ca Njambi tatetu ci kale navo...

Well, the majority of Black Brazilians come from Angola.. and the Luena or Luvale are from Democratic Republic of Congo originally, but they live in Angola and Zambia.. so it is indeed possible that Luvale music influenced Brazilian culture
