    Making ships is kinda all and the same proces. Build it, add pe if you want to. Paint it with accurate colors (or not) and apply washes. Building a kit like this one like he did isn't nearly as hard as most poeple make it out to be the only hard part is buying the pe because in a lot of cases it will be either sold out or cost more then the kit it self.

    Enterprise may have got all the attention, but Yorktown was a grand fighting lady and her crew diligent and dutiful! What she and her crew achieved did in the Battle of the Coral Sea and Midway needs more praise. Without her efforts the Allies would have likely lost Port Morsby and Northern Australia, as well as midway and possibly Hawaii. As an Australian and a fan of this ship, Thank you to your Grandfather and his mates for their service to the Pacific.

    "Sir, it'll take two weeks to fully repair her!" "You have three days." And they did it in 48 hours, with crewmen still patching up her hull as she steamed off to war to join the fleet in the upcoming Battle of Midway.

  • @joshuasill1141

    @joshuasill1141

    Жыл бұрын

    The story goes that Yorktown pulled into Pearl Harbor after the battle of Coral Sea. Admiral Nimitz was already waiting for her to dock pier side and met Yorktown's skipper. Admiral Nimitz asked how long before she's ready to go back to sea. The skipper replied "Sir, it'll take 6 months in dry dock to fully repair Yorktown and at least 90 days to get her seaworthy." Admiral Nimitz looked at the skipper straight in the eyes with a steel glare and said "You got 3 days". Dockyard workers pumped unnecessary spaces below the water line full of quick-crete to patch holes and leaks and most of the attention was given to the flight deck and the hanger deck so she could launch aircraft. She put to sea headed for Midway with contractors still on board repairing electrical problems and water mains. Spaces that had casualties had the sailor/sailors taken ashore to the hospital and if it was a vital space it was cleaned up the best it could and necessary equipment repaired or replaced, and it it wasn't a vital space it was sealed off and made water tight.

    Nice build!!! The waves look much more realistic then you did on HMS Hood! The weathering still needs some work though, rust and dirt get washed down and aft by the water when at sea, not straight down. So where the waves, crew and planes indicate she is travelling at speed, the weathering shows she's been in port for a few years. Perfecting that would be the icing on the cake.

CV-5 Yorktown and CV-6 Enterprise truly were America’s ‘First Team’ that beat back Imperial Japan until our overwhelming industrial might could win World War II. I'm sure someone has already asked, but do you have a store where some of your art is for sale? Your work is amazing.

    Working on Taiho and almost done with USS Montana in measure 22. Added all photo etch rails, radars, crane catapults etc. I have to recommend Blackcat 3d bofors and mk 37 directors and 20mm guns in 1/350. Unbelievable detail and well worth the money

    Fascinating work. I've never seen figures on ship models, and of course, warships also have lights ! Thank you for this unique presentation.

    This is probably one of the best models I’ve seen, Yorktown has been always been my favorite ship for her story and importance to Midway. Great work and thank you for sharing !

    That is an insane amount of work, the planes alone would have driven me mad but all that photo etch work, damn you must have the patience of a saint, as you clearly have the modelling skills of a god. I would love to build with this much detail, but i'm 51 years old now and my eyes aren't that good. Museeum quality at it's best.

    I have long clumsy fingers! I can’t tell you how many models I have broken while trying to put them together. Popping off air craft antennas, rear landing gear on bombers, or popping out the plastic windows, just by picking them up. Yeah, I am a little jealous of your talent.

    Wow - i often enjoy these vidoes of building and creating as a meditation. That time I'm again deeply impressed of the details; in this video especial of aircrafts, the hangardeck, the illumination of it and of course the fantastic model base. Thank You very much. This is a master piece.

    that is awesome building of a model of one the most historical aircraft carriers. I have had the pleasure of sleeping on the actual Yorktown 3 times with the Boy Scouts in Charleston SC. It is an awesome ship with a huge historical value and the honor of the men that served on it. It is a great place to visit if you are in Charleston SC go see it for your self.
