② 丸太から木のカップを作る。 Making wooden cup .で加工した材料の外周を削ります。
ドリルで持ち手部分に穴をあけ、角を丸めて整える工程です。
使っている小刀は先の細い栗小刀といいます。
細かい作業に向いている刃物で、登場回数の多い手道具です。
撮影前に小刀を研いだので爪に研ぎ汁が入ってしまいました。
キャンプなどで使うククサを自作される方は、木工用のドリル、小刀、紙やすりがあればDIYできるので、是非挑戦してみて下さい。

Make a cup of wood from a log. Cut the outer circumference of the material processed with Making wooden cup.
Drill a hole in the handle part, drill the corner and prepare it.
The katana we are using is called a thin chestnut cutter.
It is a cutting tool suitable for detailed work, and it is a handy tool with a lot of appearances.
I sharpened a knife before shooting, so the sharpened juice has gone into the nail.
Those who make their own cups for camping etc. can do DIY if there is a drill for woodworking, a knife, sandpaper, please try by all means.

........ Caught myself drooling over those giant shop machines.... Belt sander that's like 3ft by 8in and a drill press that rests in the cloud's! The cup was amazing but those tools were god mode

Crazy sharp knife + super dry wood = smooth sanding free surface. My fillet knife isn't remotely close to being as sharp as his!

Maybe you can survive in rural Asia on those cups. In the US you'd be selling them for $1000/ea to afford basic healthcare and a mortgage, both of which are inflated by crony capitalists.

Sweetheart, an authentic lapland kuksa can sell for as much as €500! Work _that_ out in dollars!

I hand carve mine from a Birch Burls. Not so machine produced- but it is only a couple- just for me.
