Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This time will make dial for Seagull ST3620.
I have used Breguet style blued steel hands,
rose gold electroplated stainless steel case 45mm,
hand made genuine leather strap 22mm.
End mill I use here:

Looks really good. As a newcomer to this hobby I had difficulty figuring out some details of what you were doing. Your vid is interesting so I will follow your next projects.

As a machinist and Watchmaker I would be sooo tempted to use the dial with the finish right off the machine for my own watch :) good work with toolpaths making it look so good before even doing any finishing work!

This is brilliant...what a great result. Can you leave the text on the screen a bit longer next time as I had to keep stopping and re winding....maybe I'm a slow reader😣

The results are beautiful and i learned a lot about this process, so thank you for doing this. My only request is voice over to rather than just music. Prompts don't start long enough to read early on in the video.

Awesome work! What grit sandpaper do you use for vertical grain and for the radial subdial grain?
@watchmakeratelier

thanks! same for both direction - I have used 800 for this watch, but recently also use 600 for other models.

Thank you for good content. Do you have any high resolution images from your dials? So i could see what are the limitations of that cnc and how small you really can get. I need to make one for my school thesis, Also using eta 9468 but case an dial need to be self made. Another question is that how did you make dial numbers etc, did you use some 3d file for it or made design yourself?
@watchmakeratelier

thank you, numbers are the part of same design so also engraved and painted. I use available in Adobe fonts for my design. For pictures...I will made my new microscope review and will show how good cutting is. but you can also refer this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fHt8upuHepiqY7w.html

Inspiring! is the machine able to do patterns cleanly in the dial face? could it do a guilloché texture on the dial or is that too precise for the stepper motors and tooling at this level of tech?
@watchmakeratelier
Жыл бұрын
thank you! good question, if we are talking about mimicking real rose engine moves (straight line or lathe) we have to solve 2 issues: fixing tool and making gcode....not trivial task, and more difficult will be generating gcode i will say. I wont warries about steppers precision however. But we can try to imitate result for some type of patterns using spindle for sure. I have tried one quite succesfully (just vertical and horizontal cuts), will show it in coming videos. this or that way I can only try to approach real machines quality using my CNC and it will newer be the same :) Maybe some very expensive :)

@@watchmakeratelier would certainly need to either have cleen sweeps acroos the material or have transitions on a location that would be machined further later. Having full clean sweeps across the face would take some doing to get the g code to do that. Perhaps altering the height ever so slightly could get some seperation of passes. I am not super aquainted with tool pathing on CNC CAM software. I am sure there are some cool designs other than rose engine stuff it could do though
Fantastic. Can you share you strategy for engraving the numbers? Would you contour engrave the numbers and then pocket the rest of the number?
@watchmakeratelier
Жыл бұрын
thanks! My strategy is actually very simple, everything is engraved with v -bit or chamfer bits with different blades angle. So engraving is controlled by width of line you engrave and angle of the bit.
Really nice..do you build watches for people. I would like one.

Amazing! I am not so sure how can you attach the dial into the chassi? are there pins in the dail? If so how can you do it? Thank you.

Thanks! Normally I attach feet to the dial by soldering it using low temperature solder. I will make separate video for this process.🙏🏻

@@watchmakeratelier I would love to see that video on soldering the feet. The actual soldering i can manage, it's placement of the feet i find challenging.
Did you also make the hands or where did you purchase them?
