Another beautiful and creative piece! Friendly advice for the router. Run the curved part of the router against the straight edge and not the flat part. This will ensure that if your router rotates that the round edge will maintain contact with the straight edge. I hope that makes sense.
@marmotaworks
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I did it that way because it was easier for me to measure and make the parallel lines. Of course, you are right and the correct way to use the router is as you say.
Now that brought a smile to my face :) What a beautiful piece, so well-balanced and with a nice gradient. I see your location is Berlin. I think that is a good place for a skilled and creative artist like you. I look forward to seeing more videos in the future :)

Too much work...
I think i would have gone with black tinted epoxy myself but this was a cool idea and it gives me an idea to do an epoxy inlay but with flowing lines instead. I use the Osmo Polyx Hard wax oil also and love it. I find that i need to use very little. Just enough to cover the areas i need. I think less is wasted when i rub out the excess oil. I have not tried sanding the first coat to 600. Maybe i will next time. Thanks for another inspiring video. Merry Christmas to you
@marmotaworks
Жыл бұрын
I almost always use black epoxy, this time I wanted to try something different. If you sand with 600 grit and then give another coat, you will have a much better finish
Brilliant 👍. Thanks for the inspiration.

Just passing on a tip. Other makers say dont run the flat side of the router base against the guide edge.

Thats a very cool piece of work, enjoyed the vid and learnt a lot about blending epoxy colours, thank you 👍🏻 When you sand do you ever have trouble with dust particles sticking and getting embedded in the resin?
@marmotaworks
11 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes, sometimes when there are microbubbles, white dust remains inside...
This is beautiful! Did you consider using less epoxy and letting capillary action suck it up to the lip? You wouldn't have to worry about sanding down any overflow...
@marmotaworks
11 ай бұрын
Thank you! I would risk it absorbing too much epoxy, and then I would have to sand a lot of wood to flatten it.
Beautiful. I don't fancy the metal attachments.

Very cool table and good video! I'm very interested in trying out some small project of this kind but I am a bit confused about the type of epoxies used. Can you clarify for me in short what you used for sealing, what you used for the color decor, and what you used for finish? I doubt it's the 5 min two-component stuff so would really use a hand before I mess a whole bunch of wood up :D Thank you in advance!

Beautiful peice may have to look at trying that myself. Can I ask few things how much resin did u use total did the tape work as a dam ok did u sell it and how much for and did u use acrylic paint as the dye?? 🏴👍
@marmotaworks
Жыл бұрын
Hi! I used approximately 300 gr of epoxy. The tape didn't work very well, next time I'll use another idea. I have used pigments for epoxy resin. You can see my projects for sale on my website. marmotworks.com
This was perfect as a vanity desk for me. kzread.infoUgkxMAlHv7-BBWMrPRm5-uEoD6rtdT7SG2Qr Especially the glossy finish. Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.

OKAY that's a good job 👍🏽 💯 but think 🤔 height !!!! and legs shape !!!! that's my view point if U don't mind
@marmotaworks
11 ай бұрын
👍 All view points are welcome.
Your table design is playful and imaginative. But your method of attaching the legs is lousy, and they’ll be weak against racking forces. Drilling mortises for each leg with a Fortsner bit would have been an improvement without adding too much work. Adding a skirt between the legs would have helped the table’s stability a lot, and would only have required some straight slots routed out, filled with matching pieces of beech.

Maybe you're right, but the truth is that I didn't want to invest more work into such a small table. Thanks anyway, advice is always welcome.
