I love this idea. Absolutely adorable. I miss that age. My son turned 16 on Mother’s Day last weekend but I still have a random baggie of wood chips tucked away in a memory box from him. Everyday when he was at preschool he would bring me home a wood chip stuffed in his pocket. At first I just thought it was a kid being a kid, shoving random things in their pocket for no reason. But after a week of wood chips every day I finally asked and he informed me “oh. Yeah. Those are for you. Every day at recess I find the best wood chip for you and bring it home.” Of course I couldn’t throw them away after that! But I also thought he would forget by Monday and next week I wouldn’t have to check pockets before laundry. Nope. He remembered for a long long time lol he even started getting them out of his pocket when I picked him up, so excited to show me how good of a wood chip he found that day. So yup, I’m all for keeping those dandelions in little vases. We know they’ll be wilted within the hour, dead by dinner, but that doesn’t matter. The vase isn’t for the literal dandelion, it’s for your kiddo. Showing them you value anything they give you and you will give that weed it’s own vase like it was a dozen roses. I’ve thought of ways to do that with my bag of wood chips and I think I’m leaning towards one of the clear glass lamp bases I can put them in where they’ll be visible but protected too. I dunno. But I do know your bud bases are damn ‘dorable

that's adorable. also, my birthday is on May 12th as well, so this story was very touching to me in particular! I'm 24, so much older than your son, but I still have a special bond with my mother. We shared the day this year since my birthday fell on Mother's Day. I hope that your son stays sweet and appreciative of his mother forever, no matter how old he gets 💚

clay shrinks in the drying and firing process (5%-20%), because of water evaporating, so they will turn out smaller!

I use trifted salt and pepper shakers. You can find really pretty sturdy glass ones in lots of sizes.

Those are cute, but too big to be bud vases. They should be half the diameter at least.

"Bud vase" is a vase that is literally big enough for 1 or 2 stems of a flower. Aka a bud. Think pick a rose bud and put it somewhere. These are not bud vases
