I like pop. Bring him back once in a while it’s good to have an artists perspective.
The greatest compliment I can give you and your dad is that you are definitely” a chip off the ole block.” Best wishes to both of you. 🌴
Awesome job, men. You guys are truly inspirational. I've been woodworking for 30 years as a hobby, and after watching you for 2 months, I purchased my first Jet 1221. Thanks!
I love having the point/counterpoint when working for a craft show vs. fine art. Both of your personalities are definitely a plus. Awesome video! Thanks!
Gotta say I'm with your Dad on this, if it's " worth the effort " then make it the best you can make it, have you guys used Yorkshire grit or Hampshire sheen finishing products, I think you'd like them. My dad too was a turner, I took it up 7 years after he passed, so it's nice to see you guys work together Take care Rob

I'm sure Dad's tried the stuff. I stick to basics.
I'm new to wood turning and have not yet tried to sell anything, but although it is late I am going to try to complete the tree I started yesterday. Ironically (or not) my son is working with me too. I really appreciate your videos, and the playful disagreements in the videos with father & son. I actually began to comment for the sole purpose of thanking _dad_ for his teaching style, explaining what he's doing and vocalizing important points that aren't easily identified through sight alone. His instruction on using lighter pressure on the distances further out from the chuck is such an important detail 👏
Now…now…Shawn…listen to your Dad, you guys are great!!!! Regards to your Dad and thank you both for sharing your knowledge on youtube Yiannis (Athens Greece)
You two guys are a hoot. A lot of fun to watch you. Thank you for all of the great tips whether it be for the artsy style of individual pieces or the mass production for a craft show, you guys are appreciated for your videos.

Watching this video was absolutely heart warming and educational at the same time. It reminds me of me and my father working and not working together. Cherish these moments you have with him. The content was great. Being a new turner and all it’s something that looks somewhat simple to learn and I’ll learn tool techniques at the same time. Shawn, you are simply at the top of the game with these videos, thanks so much for putting them out there!
Another awesome video. I am so jealous of the relationship you have with your dad and for him to teach you the craft! You are a lucky guy!
Love the back and forth with your dad... great video, listen to your father...
This has to be my favorite turning video ever, thx guys..

Who wants a yellow tree? You go Dad!!! You show him up!!! Lol.
I love to hear both sides of the school of thought on the marketability, and the artistic idealism. I struggle with this, I don’t think I have made one item that I could make any money on at this point. Thanks for sharing.
I've seen a bunch of your videos............this is the best so far.
This is great, I love watching the different styles that you and your pops provide. This is entertaining and educational. Thanks!
Your dad's a good instructor too. Nice to see you together. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed the “bickering” bit! Thank you guys for the information and being willing to share. I will be retiring soon from 30+ years in Education. I’d love to turn my hobby into projects that will help me fund my hobby! …. And maybe supplement my retirement a little! 😃
My favorite channel on KZread..still think you all could have a tv show! Love these trees!

Neat project! Was glad when he turned the speed up and it quit strobing so much. Also y'all are pretty comical. Takes all kinds to make a world!
I love seing you and your dad working together. Just goes to show, that people sharing the same passion, can have different views on what is the best approach. Make up your own mind as to what you think is right. :) I agree with your father, and I agree with you - depends on the audience. Some farmers market would not appreciate an art piece, so it would be fine to just thrash out a bunch of cheap trees. A gallery, on the other hand, would be able to sell a quality item at a much higher price point, and they would require a higher attention to detail.
Love the back and forth..keep up the great videos...together and separate!!! Good Stuff and great teaching advice!!!

Love getting opinions from both the art aspect and the mass production one. Both have their points. I, however, land in dad's camp. 😉 The short fat tree was adorable! I can see how this could easily be altered into the shape of a bee hive/honey pot., or cut off and hollowed as is for a cookie jar.
