My grandfather was a sign painter. In the 60's he would mix glass beads into his white paint for lettering truck doors. It really stood out at night from car headlights and was easy to read. He had a wooden electrical street post next to his driveway. I watched him clean his brush out on that post with beaded paint. The mark on the post could be seen from two blocks away with car headlights and was still visible 25 years later even though the white paint pigment had faded.
