Nice job guys. I’ve been self-employed for over 30 years, so I can relate to what you say about no days off. 😊 A couple of quick questions of you don’t mind. What kind/brand of paint are you finding works best for your projects, and secondly, how are you cleaning your cut pieces, removing the smoke/char in a way that doesn’t damage the paint? Thanks!

Hello! We use High Gloss Rust-oleum Spray Paint. We have discovered that using a high gloss paint makes cleaning the ash easier. Rust-oleum seems to hold up better against the heat compared to other brands. For the clean-up, we use Dawn Soap and water with a soft brush and light scrub. Be mindful when washing wood, it can warp when drying in a hot or on an uneven surface. Thanks for watching and asking.

Great video and thanks for sharing! The cross cuts you were making made me cringe a lil, so please be careful of a nasty kickback. (Ask me how I know 🤕)

Hello, thanks for watching. Sorry it made you nervous. You're right, a cross cut can be tricky. I really should take the time to make a sled to make those cuts. I'm afraid to ask, I hope you're ok!

Why not paint the name after it’s cut? Also I know you probably FEEL like you need to work on the holiday and maybe it’s not a bad thing to whip out a project or two quickly. But believing you don’t have enough time and needing to skip holidays or work through the weekend/night is a dangerous myth. If leadership and business training has shown me anything, you have to create boundaries or you run the risk of burnout and conflict. I’m not telling you what to do or how to run your business but a healthy time clock will be good overall, not to mention will help keep one another sane! Loved the video today keep up the amazing work, very inspiring.

Hello! Thank you so much for the comment! We paint before we cut because painting first and allowing it to cure before cutting ensures that the paint isn't mixed with ash left over from cutting. After cutting and washing, there is still some ash on the wood. That ash mixes with wet paint and discolors the paint. It makes the paint look darker or dirty. We love what we do, but make sure to take breaks to spend time with family and friends. This particular day (the 4th of July) we wanted to work in the morning so that we could enjoy our evening plans and be sure to meet our shipping dates. We agree that having a healthy balance of work and life is very important. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us and for watching!
