Why doesn’t your video have a recipe and supply list? This video is not a tutorial.
How do I get started in soapmaking? Start off by researching. Educate and then experiment. Be sure to follow all proper safety precautions. A great starting place is the beginner cold process soapmaking series by SoapQueenTV here on KZread. You can then purchase all the supplies you need at Bramble Berry. Lovin Soap Studio also has a beginner series on KZread.
Why don't you share your cold process soap recipe? Our recipe is proprietary. We are contractually obligated to keep our recipe a secret. I do occasionally share a test recipe. I highly recommend Bramble Berry, Lovin' Soap, and The Nerdy Farm Wife for free recipes. Those resources are a great starting point and then you can tweak your favorite recipe to make it your own.
Where do you buy your oils? We purchase our oils in bulk at Soapers Choice, Wholesale Supplies Plus, and Sam's Club.
Where did you buy your molds? My husband builds all my wood molds. My silicone molds are from various suppliers.
Where did you buy your soap planer? My husband built the soap planer for me.
Where did you buy your soap cutter? We purchased our soap cutter at Bud’s Woodshop.
Where did you buy your soap loaf splitter? Our loaf splitter was purchased from Smith Creek Studio.
Where do you buy your soaping containers? My pitchers are from School Masters and my large plastic containers are from Webstaurant Store.
Where do you buy your fragrance oils? We purchase our oils from many different suppliers. We don’t have a one-stop-shop for all of our oils. We blend the majority of the fragrances we work with.
Where do you buy your colors? We buy our colors at Bramble Berry, Nurture Soap, and Mad Micas.
Where do you buy your coconut milk? I was buying So Delicious Organic Coconut Milk on Amazon but I think you all bought them out! Ha! I now buy Native Forest Organic Coconut Milk. Please don't buy them out. I need coconut milk. lol
Where do you buy your soap boxes? We usually buy our boxes from Wholesale Supplies Plus or Elements Bath and Body.
How do you design and print your labels? I use Adobe Photoshop to design my labels. I use full sheet labels and print with our HP Office Jet Inkjet printer.
Where do you buy your packaging materials? We buy our packaging materials at various suppliers including Paper Mart, ULine, Nashville Wraps, Eco Enclose, and Amazon.
Do you give classes? No, I do not offer classes. However, if you need help, leave me a comment and I’ll see what I can do.
Why are the comments disabled on your older videos? Due to some very negative, hateful, and vile comments, I am no longer allowing commenting on older videos. The older videos seem to be the ones targeted. Newer videos may have approved comments for a time. I welcome decent, respectful comments.

Good afternoon, this question is from your Tangerine salt bars that you made. The video was a few years ago. You mentioned you like salt bars to wash your face with. Is the recipe that you were using for your Tangerine salt bars is that the same recipe you use on your face? Or is it a different salt recipe? That video had the comments were turned off 😔 thank you!

I never thought about doing the thin layer and then pouring the in-the-pot swirl, but it turned out so cute, almost like a little shell! Really love the look of these-kind of reminds me of a classier/handmade Irish Spring back when they used to be swirled (I think I heard that they're one solid colour now), which I always found really pretty. Anyway, thanks for another great video! You've inspired me to make soap this week after a long-ish break, so I appreciate that! 💕

  • @moriversoap

I wouldn't put a stick blender into the lye solution like that. I would also recommend just straining it. I tend to get more because I reduce my water so much. When I don't reduce my water, I don't get those at all. Typically, they blend in just fine for me. I strain if the lye solution was made the day before and the bits are a bit crunchy. Haha!

  • @saharpervez856

Thanks for sharing. Why do you add coconut milk to oils? What difference does it make or what qualities does it add to soap? Also how to calculate the amount to be added ppo?

  • @moriversoap

    @moriversoap

    4 жыл бұрын

Thank you! I add coconut milk because it adds such a lovely creaminess to the soap. Because I am not doing a full milk soap, I add it at a smaller amount to the oils. (As opposed to a milk/lye solution.)This is typically done at trace, but I love to get it all blended in with the oils to get rid of any bits. Adding it at trace may cause the soap to be over blended and thicken up too quickly, especially if you're working extra to get those bits broken down. (Alternately, you can preblend the milk or strain it.) So that is why I do that. You can experiment and see how much you like in your soap recipe. This is based on the 50/50 method. You mix your lye solution with at least equal parts of water from your batch. (I prefer much more water though to get that lye mixed well). Then you can make up the remainder of your liquid/water amount with milk.

I'm sorry to hear that! I could write out a two page document explaining my pricing and why it is justified (and why this comment hurts my heart) but I'll just leave it at this... Costs are high. Shipping is high. Keep in mind that most of my supplies are super heavy and shipping is C-R-A-Z-Y! We do the best we can. We work really hard, long hours (3 of us!), with very tiny profit. (Proper retail pricing and recommended retail on my soaps is $18-$20 a bar! So that I charge $9-$10 is a pretty sweet deal with the quality of ingredients used.) We are currently offering flat rate shipping on orders over $15. The more you buy, the more you save! You need soap and I need to sell soap. I am not covering costs on shipping materials and I'm paying more than you are paying me to ship most orders. Additionally, I always have the Buy 9 Soaps and Get 1 Soap Free deal. That makes the average (super luxurious) soap bar at just $8 a bar in most cases. For a hefty 5-6 oz bar, that's a great deal! Combine that with the flat rate shipping and you've gotten quite a nice discount. Thanks!

I did bring Bite Me back this year with a slightly different look. It is currently curing and will be available probably towards the end of September or the beginning of October.

Every time I try adding milk without freezing, it always turns my batter orange and smells. How do you get your batter to stay the same

What is the typically percentage you are adding in? It's natural for lye and milk to react in that manner. So if you use more milk then there is more to react.

I don't remember what the size of that particular batch would have been. I typically use between 1-3% coconut milk (percentage based on the oil portion of the batch).
