I assume they rotoscope the actor out which is VFX. They almost certainly had a full CGI scan of it on a clean plate at some point they would end up needing to clean up a shot. Almost nothing in Hollywood is pure CGI or practical anymore but rather a mix overlapping to better sell the shot. Dedication.

I assume the actor was mostly to get accurate lighting and movement for the Vfx team to reference. Some scenes might use the footage too though.

The actor is actually magician named victor and the cast said when filming he would hide under the bed and hide behind poles in a blue suit when filming

It also makes the movements so much more realistic. I actually wondered whether it was a real actor’s hand while watching, because there’s one part where Thing is typing and the way the thumb was pushing against the base of the typewriter made the motion of typing with ‘one hand’ seem very realistic. If it was CGI, they probably would have had the hand ‘floating’ across the typewriter keys. This way, it seemed like a real person pushing the weight of their hand against the typewriter with their thumb in order to gain more control and speed.

Didn’t even realize Enid was wearing a wig. Honestly the lighter colors suit her so well!

I'm most amazed by the fact that that werewolf kid catching a frisbie in his mouth was real. I assumed the frisbie was CGI. Pretty amazing that a stunt person actually physically did it.

Sorry to dissapoint you but it's clear that they did 2 shots to create that scene, yoe can see the frisbie falling down when he catches it but it should still be shooting to the other side

@@prp134 I'm working in the field, usually you want to get the most light possible no matter the final result to capture all the light possible cuz it also gives you the most information to use once you reach the color editing of a movie :)

@@jcw8955 Not that much if you know how to do it. A friend of mine is a stuntman. He once taught me how "to get hit by a car". Shortly before the impact the stuntman turns his body towards the car, jumps onto the bonnet (AKA hood) and rolls over the vehicle. This looks spectacular and is rather safe. Of course the stuntman wears thick padding under his clothes. If you look at such car accidents in films now you'll notice the person never gets hit from the back or the side as in a real accident. Unfortunately I witnessed some in real life as I worked as a cameraman for TV news. Some of the kinetic energy of the car gets transferred to the victim into the direction the car was moving which causes most of the injuries. Once I saw a man hit by a bus in a street in London, UK. He flew about ten meters before he crashed onto the floor on the other lane. Thankfully the oncoming cars stopped in time.

It is one of the series that I liked the most, an excellent cast of characters and an exquisite interpretation by them...

So much to be impressed with! One thing I noticed was that everything from the uniform coats to Bianca's eyes would change between blue and gold like that dress years ago that no one could agree what color it was. In these clips the jackets looked purple!

The proper cameras used for recording the show will record in a format that allows a lot of manual processing/editing, so they can get the colours just right for what the artistic vision is, while mobile phone cameras do their own colour processing as they make the recording and you get whatever the phone wants to give you.

I went into this show with zero expectations and I'm glad I did. The series was a fun watch from start to finish. I'm so glad I didn't look at social media opinions prior to watching it. It was just fun to go on the journey and make up my own mind.
