Lovely to see the young model so happy and natural, she is beautiful in the gown. The traditional haute couture in Paris required models to mutilate their bodies through starvation and stress resulting in very high numbers of depressed and suicidal woman working the catwalks wearing beautiful clothing that comes at too high a price in every way.

I had the Same reaction as many other posters. This ISN'T haute couture! The longest applique, on front right side isn't STRAIGHT; neither are the next 2 longest & those 2 aren't CENTERED! THAT would drive me NUTZ! The seam allowance on the bodice back 'Vee' is noticeable. Haute couture would have underlined/lined, so seam allowance was invisible. LOVE the colors of beads & sequins.

@Que I havent seen any of your work, so really it dsnt interest me if you graduated in Fashion or if you got better than a C grade. I watched the video and appreciated her work. Yes, it could be so much better and neater, Im sure with time effort and motivation she can excel.

A person doesn't need to be a designer to be able to give his/her opinion regarding an outfit just like a person doesn't have to be a director to give views regarding a movie. Additionally, in this case it isn't even an opinion, it's a fact. The dress isn't well made. Please take a seat. You clearly don't know what you are talking about.

Haute Couture is Haute Couture..It means expensive fashionable clothes produced by leading fashion houses..the style and technique both are different. We are a well established couture house and do this day in and day out.There are no requirements to be met in haute couture-there are only techniques and pattern in which it's done. In short-it can be as visionary as any art form.

Supriya Kodali not even sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra have that audacity to slap haute couture on their collection. They call it couture. In case of apparels , the term is legally bound. I'm so abashed by the ignorance of this designer. Even the work is crude. That's like calling any Tom dick awards Nobel and Oscars. 😑😑

Supriya . i really do not want to be the bad guy here . But there is a reason it is called Haute Couture . The term is French for a reason. Haute Couture is by definition , something that is hand made , IN FRANCE . Every major haute couture house must have its creations made in France to be called Haute Couture . If it is made outside the country , it can still be truly beautiful and exquisitely crafted but it can't be called Haute Couture . You can call it high fashion if you please or Couture , but not Haute Couture . Haute Couture has to be approved and validated by the Chambre de Commerce de la Haute Couture in Paris, this is a requirement. If this designer, no matter how talented , decided to sell her gowns on the global market as Haute Couture , she would be extremely severely sanctioned . On top of that Haute Couture gowns are order made in Paris, the clients must be registered at the Fashion house, then a mannequin is made to their exact measurements . Once the order is passed, the customer is given a choice regarding whether she wants to be fitted in Paris or in her own country . If she can't or just doesn't want to come to Paris for the first fitting then , the gown is flown to her with the Premiere d'Atelier and or one of the Deuxiemes d'Atelier accompanied by a Petite Main . The gown is fitted , then everything is flown back to HQ in Paris and then the gown is finished and flown back to the customer for a second fitting and if everything is ok , the transaction is completed . My aunt (who is French) worked as a Deuxieme for Mister St Laurent for many years , then for Dior until Galiano got sacked , and now for Stephane Laurent as Premiere and because i am curious and ask a lot of question, i know a thing or two regarding the trade . And now , i am going to be a little critical, but as someone who as seen authentic Haute Couture gowns in the flesh (so to speak) i can assure you, there is nothing Haute Couture about this gown on the video . This is not even couture or high fashion . A true Haute Couture gown is made with the highest quality material , cut, , mounted , assembled and stitched by the world's top of the range professionals who have all spend at least 10 years studying the techniques plus an extra 5 years minimum of experience . Not even half a millimeter mistake is allowed when cutting and stitching and a single evening gown requires over 20 people working on it and at least 1500 hours . Every little detail is calculated , and every bit is hand made to specifically fit this particular gown, meaning that you will NEVER find the same fabric or design or pattern on the fabric , outside the House, and if so it is by definition a counterfeit because every piece is patented . There is a reason why an Haute Couture gown costs 200 000 euros minimum (and i mean MINIMUM , many gowns are far beyond 500 000 euros) and this is not just due to the Label , though it is in big part due to it as well. When you buy Haute Couture you make the same investment as when you buy a car or a house . Except your gown gets a life Guarantee , and it will be "mended" or altered by the house any time you wish to fit any other person you might want to offer this gown to . Besides when you are bored with it, you can donate it to a museum and even use it as a tax write off as true Haute Couture gowns are considered top of the range luxury goods , works of art, and extremely valuable antiques over the years , especially if they remain in good condition . The only gown outside true Haute Couture which i consider to be their equal in terms of quality and craftsmanship , are top of the range traditional Japanese Kimono even made today . The gowns are entirely handmade, including the fabric, hand dyed, hand embroidered , hand painted, hand cut, hand stitched and some of of those craftspeople in Japan could honestly give a few lessons to the best technicians of the Haute Couture houses . The quality of a top of the range traditional silk Japanese Kimono is breathtaking . Unfortunately , this gown here on the video, doesn't even begin to compare to the quality of a top of the range silk Kimono or an authentic Haute Couture piece .

It can’t be called “Haute Couture” unless it’s made within a certain area of Paris. Her name isn’t on the lists of the “Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture” as an official member, a correspondent member, or a guest member, so no she can’t call her work Haute Couture. Judging by the work seen here it’s competent dressmaking at best. And before anyone starts having a go - I’ve been a couturier for 40 years.
