MAKING NAUTILUS SWIRL - Cold Process Soap

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video will who you step by step how to make the Nautilus aka Ocean Wave Swirl in cold process soap. This is a modification of the Taiwan Swirl in which one additional step of swirling. It's important to use a soap recipe and fragrance oil that has a slow trace. You will also need a soap mold with four dividers to achieve the final design. The fragrance oil that I use for this is Brambleberry's Ocean Shores.

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. jobs Jeff, as always. Clean, effective & relatively simple to do. I like the centered swirl in the middle of each section. It adds an original movement in the colors.

@@avantsoapstudio6654 Cannot wait to see the results of your new creations. I made in the last few weeks 10 different soaps to have more variety for Xmas gifts (6 weeks periods for saponification)... from me to give, and from my friends to their friends! October was very busy on soap creation.

I wanted to try your design as it is quite unique and gorgeous to boot. I wanted to also try using your recipe but noticed the numbers don't add up. Was there a misprint in the Castor oil & Shea butter values???

Thanks for the comment - and yes you did catch an error in the recipe. The Shea Butter is only 5% not 10%. My apologies if this caused you any issues. I made the correction in the post.

Okay, I attempted to make this yesterday! Just posted pics on Saponification Nation Facebook. Not perfect but I like the results. I didn’t get very good drag using a plastic chop stick when doing the Taiwan swirl part. Question: did you use 25% water discount, then add the FO in addition to the water? ( or was the FO included in your 25% fluid?). Thank You for the inspiration!

NICE! Have you posted it on the FB page yet? I used a glass stirrer that's a little thicker than a chopstick that helps with the drag. I always add my FO to the batter after I've added my micas so that I can control the trace as much as possible and keep things fluid - especially with these types of designs. Appreciate the feedback - would love to see the results.

So beautiful! What water discount did you use? Do you spray the top with alcohol? How did you create such a fluid recipe? Thanks

I used water at 25% of oils - it sill gave me plenty of time to execute the design and trace with the FO that I used was very manageable and slow. I did top with 99% alcohol after a few minutes in the oven. To get this fluid recipe (recipe in comment section of my video) I used mostly coconut oil, lard and palm oils. And blended only unit emulsion/light trace. The FO was Ocean Shores from Brambleberry which I love because it's very well behaved. Hope this helps!

@@creation6030 thank you! I tend to use less FO than I think most the soapers. For the most part I use about 0.75 oz / pound of soap.
