Hi, pals! I had to reupload this video because I realized I COMPLETELY LEFT OUT A WHOLE SECTION! The version I originally uploaded didn’t have the portion where I show and explain how I did the floors and, quite frankly, it was too much work to leave it out 😅 so here is the exact same video but with a few extra minutes of floor construction!!

Ariel: "Do want a video on..." Everybody: "YES!". These videos are such a reward. I love everything about them. I love how thoughtful Ariel is and how easily she laughs and how she takes the projects head on. Can't wait to see how the tiles turn out and what kind of light fixture ends up in the room. ❤❤❤

I think my favorite thing about this whole project (aside from the obviously stunning results), is watching your style evolve. With every room you do, it becomes more refined, and I love how you are honest and open with yourself to keep fine-tuning. A house is meant to be loved and cherished and this shows just how that relationship deepens over time. Lovely.

Those music box tables were apparently exported from Italy in the 60s and 70s in pretty big numbers. I have one I thrifted for fifteen dollars about twelve years ago, and it’s great. Mine apparently plays a song from Dr. Zhivago (per my mom).

Glad you added in the footage of the floor work because they are so beautiful. Would you ever consider making a dedicated video about the process? Something with more specific information on materials and just the whole shebang. My mom has a 1855 house with floors that can't be salvaged and seeing what you've done is so inspiring. (And I REALLY hope you carry these floors into the kitchen).

I love how your reno journey feels so organic - you started with more painting which is daunting but feels more accomplishable for a newbie, and now you’re tackling laying wood floors and wallpapering! You’ve made such incredible progress, both in your house and in your skills and ability, and vision. I’m mid reno of our first home too, but our whole house is a mere 60sq meters 😅 My most daunting task is to tile the hallway (less than 2sq m) but I’m afraid to cut into the tiles! It cost me so much to ship it out to our remote Scottish island that I want to make sure I get it right🥲

i watched this video when you first made it and am again watching it for inspiration. Sold our century home and moved from northern Ontario to very rural Saskatchewan; bought house sight unseen and being a young senior my husband and I didn't realize just how much work this was to do. Our family and friends are back in Ontario. Came to a place where this is literally tumbleweeds rolling down the street ! It was such a shock to my system I had to be airlifted to Saskatoon and get a pacemaker . My ticker couldn't take it I guess. Love the restoration of your beloved house. The wallpaper and floor is stunning Ariel.

The curtains and wallpaper really up the cozy factor! Some tassels would be so cute as tie backs for your curtains. I have thrifted lots of tassels for very little $$. The details really make the space look fancy, like a Victorian boudoir! I even hang them on my lamps as accents and door knobs.

Your very latest video showed up in my feed and I’m happy it did! What amazing transformations you’ve accomplished throughout the house! I’ve always considered doing a tile backsplash on a closed off fireplace like yours on a piece of plywood cut to fit the area. That way if I change my mind down the road, I can change it without feeling too much stress about it because tiling is such a permanent thing.

You could make a row with diffrent laundry hampers. I think you have enough space for it. 1 for dirty craft/garden/work clothes, 1 for coloured clothes, 1 for socks and wool stuff, 1 for underwear and 1 for bras. And towels you can hang on a rack on top of each other until you wash it (because they are wet).

Hey Ariel, I'm buying a house of my own and it's so exciting to get to see your videos and think about all the projects I'M gonna get up to soon!!! One idea for your bedroom with that slanted ceiling I got from a friend's I stayed at last week is they put canopy curtains on the slant ceiling to delineate that space above the bed. The curtains were pinned up so they stayed in line with the ceiling and didn't fall around the bed (though I think you could make them do that if you wanted), but it visually just made the bed seem like it was in a cozy lil nook instead of a bed under an eave. Just a thing I saw I thought I'd share!!

This turned out so lovely, like all of you projects! The tile idea looks pretty cool. Just throwing this out there, maybe box out the fireplace a bit with plywood and tile on that? If the mantle is original that could protect it from possible tile removal in the future. And those intricate tiles on those narrow pieces of the mantle would probably be a real challenge.

It just never felt like an accessible thing to me especially because when I grew up my dad did all this kind of stuff and my mom basically didn't. She sometimes helped with simple labor stuff but he mostly did it all himself. They are pretty "traditional" so it always just felt like this wasn't a "girl" thing. And I just wanna be able to do it. Buy a house and reno it how I want. Fix things where I can myself, etc. It seems silly, i always knew women could do this too, it just didn't feel accessible to me. Until i started seeing other women doing it and learning as they go!! Love the wallpaper. You really elevated that bedroom from "pretty cute and fresh" to "decadent, cozy, warm, finessed." So good!

I’m just the same as you with kind of knowing it should be something I could do but not really believing/having the confidence to try stuff myself. Just coming round to realising this in my late 30s but better now than never. It really seems to be true that “you have to see it to be able to be it”. I love Ariel’s style of just getting on with it and calmly persevering to bring her ideas to reality. So inspiring, comforting and entertaining. ❤️

Wonderful job. You can do my house next. Can you open up the fireplace? not to use, but to create a nook for the stove? You could seal and tile that.

That's so funny, I have that exact same little table, my mom found it at an antique shop and gave it to me I think. I know nothing about its origins, but it seemed so unique -- now I know there's a twin I wonder about it's origins!! Edit: also, definitely need a lighting fixture video, I need to figure out how to shop for this, I hate everything that is readily available and it's overwhelming

Can you please please please do a more detailed video on how you do floors. There is surprisingly little information on how to do what you are doing with the kinds of boards you used. I want to do this!!!

Ariel, videos about your project are bringing me SO MUCH satisfaction!! you have an amazing taste and every time you show items that you thrifted or someone gave to you somehow and telling the story about how it happened I feel so good.. something similar I feel when characters in fantasy are finding some super special artefacts 😁 and the results of your makeovers are always stunning, I think when you'll finish your house, I'll keep rewatching it sometimes)) also lovely curtain bangs :)💕💕

I love your videos so much. One of my favorite KZreadrs of all times. I love your style. I'm from Egypt and I love that the gefts from cotn has the Arabic words for cotton on the tote and school (madrasty)on the sweatshirt and the drawings on it are really authentic. Those are the first drawings we learn in school and preschool . A white duck, a plant and a house.

Have you thought about making your own lamp shade? I think a round velvet shade with fringe would look good. Also a little French one with crystals would look good too.

That wallpaper is so stunning that I think you should cover ALL the walls with it. Think of it - going to bed and waking up surrounded by a lovely green forest. So cozy. I love the Kotn bedding and your sweater is perfect for Canada's cold winters.

Once again Ariel, WOW! I redid my room a while ago and did a gallery wall which you 1000% inspired and I LOVE it! Question! I know you want to make the haunted creepy room your master bedroom one day (at least I’m pretty sure) so once that happens do you have a plan for this room?❤️ much love!

This room will eventually become another guest bedroom I think! I don’t want children but it would also be such a sweet kids room. But for me we have pretty frequent family visits so it’ll be a guest room! :)

@@ArielBissett, and even when life turns out well, it's never the way we planned it! You could end up being a full time Auntie for awhile, or doing respite for your friend that's a foster parent, or taking care of a loved one, or sponsoring an exchange student!

It turned out beautiful! Love the wallpaper so much! Also, If you are saving the original house windows you may want to consider getting compression-fit interior storm windows made. That will help a lot with insulation during the winter, while maintaining the character and original features of the current windows. Reglazing is really easy to learn as well if that is cracked.
