Making Mikey from IDW Comics - TMNT Customs

On this weeks episode of the OnGreenShow I make the IDW Comics version of Michelangelo using a 2012 TMNT bootleg figure I got from Amazon. I took inspiration from two different artists or at least gear set ups that he has through out the run. From one reference I used the wraps and from another I used the belt, the rest of him pretty much stay the same across the issues. I reshape his face, give him fresh paint and extended wraps as well as make some new nunchucks for him to match the comic book version. Generally I’d soak it in boiled water to loosen then pry it off

Hello OnGreenShow! I have a cool custom idea you could maybe do in the future and its make the rottmnt turtles in their black wraps with their normal weapons and you would also make some other rottmnt stuff!

Amazing job dude! Did you find using the bootlegs easier to customize than the originals? I like that Mikey’s scale of the bootleg since it’s the same for the rest of them so I was considering getting a set to use the Mikey to body swap for my Jennika. Im currently using a Donnie with Mikey’s belt and next week I’m going to see about 3D printing her claws. If they work out alright, I’ll send you a set.

Thanks dude, I feel like they took the paint a little better maybe because the don't have a semi gloss finish or any finish really except the front shell which is a harder plastic. I think they used the Donnie mold for Mikeys legs and like how it sets him apart from the cartoon toys. Your Jennika sounds dope, I just started mine, guess I'll have to make the claws removable in case I end up with new ones, Thanks dude. Even if you don't send me them I'd still love to see how she turns out.

Thanks dude, mine didn’t smell when I got them but I kept the belts thinking I might use them one day and a month later they were kinda oily and gross. If that’s you’re problem I’d get rid of the belt then wash him with soapy water and a toothbrush
