Great video thanks! Have you any size of the tool? I've made this beveler but at hand (no machine). And idk I feel it too heavy. I've used a 9mm screw. Its head after done 10 x 9mm

How do you get the knurling on the shaft of the bolt. You didn't show it in your other video either.

Hey guy ..i was just wondering if you thought or tried doing one more step and that running it back and forth on your leather strothing board? (and i know i spelt that wrong ) along with your rouge? as iv done this and it just gives the piece that new professional look .

Excellent video but how do you record the chisel handle and make it non-slip?

The recording is called and knurling is done on a metal lathe. There are hand knurlers availiable but they will not do a continuous knurl. There are other methods to make grip though. I have seen people chuck up a stamp in a drill press and use 30 grit sandpaper to give it some texture for grip or use sports tape. Thanks for watching.

Just a suggestion, use a multi grade honing bar rather than sand paper....save a lot of money on the long run rather than spend the constant for sand paper...thanks for the post ...

Hello, I’m just starting to gather information on leatherwork, I’ve worked with making other kinds of tools….anyway. Do you work harden/heat treat these stamps? Would it make a difference or would that just be overkill in this case?

Do you think SS bolts would do for blanks? They have them cheap at the local salvage store. The threading would do for knurling....You have a better system here than most Thanks.

Yes, stainless steel bolts are what I use for the blanks. For knurling the threads may be too aggressive on the hands. I have seen alternative methods for adding grip. Placing the bolt in a drill press and using 40-60 grit sandpaper on the handle (be careful using this method) to create a texture for gripping or just wrapping the handle in cloth athletic tape. I hope that answers your questions. Thanks.

If I recall correctly it was a 1/4" x 4.5 inches. Got it from a big box store. Might have been 3/8" x 5. Nothing really special about it. Probably 303.
