The longer it cures ,the milder it becomes. Here in Greece we use olive oil soap everywhere, even in the laundry.

I would love to have an olive oil laundry soap recipe to follow!

I made tons of soaps during college, that was many years ago. I still have a box of my cold process soaps and while they attract some humidity and lost their scents they are still excellent soaps to this date. Washed off the dust with one hand wash and they are ready to go…no body lotion needed.

I have soap from 10 years ago and the lather is wonderful. I would always sacrifice fragrance for lather. So o personally use soap between 2-6 years old usually.

6 to 12 month curing time? I don't know how you can wait that long! I have difficulty waiting 24 hours to unmold.....thank you, you are amazing. I am going to try this....and learn patience. :)

OZARKMEL yes it is a long wait time! This is the type of soap you put in the drying area and forget about for a while! For me, I always have my previous batch available while a new one is drying 😉

Happy dance for the return of the internet, new stick blender, and more soap... I've wanted to make my own soap for close to 30 years, just didn't have access to how, as much of what I previously read made the process sound very scary, but in the past 6 months, I see I can do this. Several months ago I bought everything I though I might need and have been watching lots of videos and reading what I can. I like to learn first through reading and watching, then experience and experiment by trying or doing as much as I can.... so instead of starting out with blends of oils or recipes, I thought I would start by making single oil soaps, from the most basic and easiest oils to get olive, coconut, lard, etc just to practice with and learn the characteristics of each oil, and how each oil compares. Da ta da... I made my first batch of unscented olive oil soap last week. I felt very confident and terrified at the same time... and then here is your video with lots of information.... and everything makes so much more sense, after reading, watching, then doing, then watching again... Thank you so much for your videos that are gentle and informative. 👏 👏 🤗 🤗 🎀 ❤

Your soap is always so Beautiful! This is one of my favorite soaps. I make them with locally sourced fresh raw goat milk. The long cure def improves the lather. I make them unscented usually. I also love Bastille Soap 70% Olive, 25% Coconut & 5% Cocoa Butter. It becomes rock hard so fast but needs a long cure as well 6 - 12 mo. I use a powerful dehumidifier & a milk discount. These are generally organic

Thank you for mentioning about the trace for Olive Oil soap. I did a batch for myself ages ago - maybe early last year and it did what you said. It had crumbled on me after it had dried overnight. Couldn't think why as I had made a batch beforehand. I was very reluctant to throw it out but it didn't get any better with sitting for longer. Thanks for that little bit of information.

Rebatch it next time - no need to throw it out and waste all that oil. Shred it down in a food processor and melt or mix quantities of it in a new recipe soap batch. xx

I love Lavender! And wow, I’m sure you prepare these soaps ahead of time, of course, 6 to 12 months is a looooong time to wait! I love watching how you make your soaps. It distracts me from my anxiety! 🙂
