    Aww, I just read your other comments section and see that you closed the operation. Anyway, maybe these companies can still help other farmers...

    I’ve worked on bigger irrigation reels and there all similar but I use a riser in a field that runs to a lagoon full of pig manure so I’m used to moving them

    You do what you gotta do. We have rain come down all around us too. But not on us. Without water, its a desert.

    I can relate to the lack of rain. It's looking very dry in NSW Australia. No rain all winter. If we don't get rain early spring, with Summer temperatures of 105+ degrees f and no river supply to keep the irrigation going due to the legal powers that govern the flow upstream, it's looking like it may be a tough year. Need to buy a new mower conditioner but am holding off until I'm convinced it will get work.

    York Peppermint Patties! I KNEW I liked you all for a reason! We were laughing this morning about why it rained here last night. Yesterday I cut my lawn and dumped the bagger out to let the clippings dry since the trash gets picked up on Wednesdays and I didn't want wet grass sitting in the bin that long. Sure enough, it rained last night!

    North Texas Hay I meant to pump water from the tanker truck to the water reel so not to have all that hose laying on the ground. Or put in irrigation camels to pump water from. I used cotton hulls from the gin and some sand to amend my hard pastures

  • @NorthTexasHay

    @NorthTexasHay

    6 жыл бұрын

    +Ron S the reels go through 100 gallons a minute, so a pond is the only option for them. Putting stations in the field from my well wouldn't work because i need 100 psi at the reel and with my center pivots running I couldn't come close to that. Tilling or plowing my fields isn't an option because I would lose a year of production from it, I don't think putting anything on the surface would do any good either. Punching holes every cutting seems to work for me fairly well, but being in sand is optimal for growing Bermuda grass.

  • @rons1286

    @rons1286

    6 жыл бұрын

    Oh wow. 100 gallons a minute. That will drain a pond quickly. I feel for you. Canals or underground pipe seems the only solutions different than what you are doing. I did punching after every cutting also but spread sand and hulls before. Feeding 250+ head cattle. A few years back in the drought years I had 2 wells and 2 stock tanks go dry and stay dry for several years. Had to buy lots of hay. 20 miles east of Austin.
