    Greetings from Ireland, Great job, Its the bees knees. I started a no dig garden veg bed ten years ago and it works well. I make my own compost to top up the bed every year. I use the rest of the compost to mulch my flower beds every year that were dug out twenty years ago. Pity I did not know about Charles Dowding at the time it would have saved me digging.

    Great job! You’re really growing as a gardener. For the aphids, spray them off with the jet from the water hose. And plant some alyssum all around the beds, especially near the rose. This will bring in beneficial flies, parasitic wasps, and pirate bugs. They’ll take care of reducing your aphids biologically.

    Omg! Thank you! I’m going to do that this week, I have some sweet alyssum seeds that I haven’t sown yet so that’s perfect. And thank you! I’m really enjoying the garden more and more every year. 🥰

    I did the cardboard method in the fall for my winter crops, it worked really well

    Oh good! I'm nervous the root systems won't anchor in well and the cut flowers will blow over... but I know so many people have good success with it so I'm giving it a shot!

    Hey, for your rose 🌹 you may need to trim the leaves back a bit so that they can have a bit of air flow. That will help the black mold!

    Thank you! I trimmed it early this spring but I'll go back and thin it out more through the season. Thank you for the tip!

    I've just done this coz we had a lot of extra mulch during our landscape project. The others we had to till and remove sod and we almost died doing it. So when I extended the flower bed I grabbed a bunch of card board then edged and put the mulch in. In spring maybe I'll add more plants to it. 😅

    I just did the same thing a couple weeks ago. Now the fun of planting begins I started on the one bed and we need to finish the other one. So easy and so far seems to be working really well. Now I have so much more space to plant flowers. I did a shade garden and a full sun ☀️ garden. Can’t wait to see yours when you have flowers in and blooming! I love when a garden fills out! I planted in my first one before 3 months and I just dug straight through the cardboard it was super soft and already starting to break down. I waited maybe 3-4 weeks but we’ve had a lot of rain.

    That’s awesome! I think I would’ve been better off if I did what you did and planted more mature plants. I’m nervous because I planted so many seedlings, I’m not sure the roots will be able to make it through the cardboard... I wish I’d have made these beds months ago! But oh well! It’ll be great going forward! 🥰

    I have used this method before don't worry it works fine. I also have used it for garden paths using cardboard then mulch. Try some morning glories or cardinal climbers on your fence. They will give you a little screen. Can't wait to see the update!

    @@crystaldoes6576 omg nooooooo. Don't do morning glories!!! Do not, I'm helping you in the long run nooooooooo. After 4 years they're still popping up where I didn't plant them.....very invasive! That pretty bed you just made will be a nightmare.

    Hi! New gardener here and yours came out great! I’m going to do the same no dig garden bed with a bench. When you planted your plants did you make a whole through the cardboard? I saw some cardboard coming out on some that you planted. Thank you!

    I like neem oil alot better than rose RX, if you don't want to spray often you could purchase lady bugs:)

    Do you dig through the cardboard?

  • @floridaman6982

    @floridaman6982

    Gotta soak it really well then put the bags of soil on top, the cardboard gets moldy and dissolves in a few months into soil. But in the process it killed all the weeds and grass below it. Im going to try soon
