They made Jisoo's name BASED ON a real victim's name. Also, they are showing Haein's character as if he is standing up for democracy movement when he's actually a spy and the one who oppresses people's freedom / the ones we had to fight and get killed in order to re-gain our freedom. + The other character Jang Seung Jo is described as if he is standing for justice when he was one of the leaders of An Gi Bu (this was an organization where they kept spying innocent Korean people, gaslighted and even killed in order to oppress the Koreans who stood up for justice). I suggest the international fans deeply take a look. It's not about changing the storyline and everyone including Koreans happily watching it ever after.

@@user-gw3or2ds9n Yes I understand the criticisms the drama is getting at the moment and has been getting since the controversy started months ago when the synopsis was released. JTBC just released their statement which doesn't do anything to heal any wounds, basically them just saying "watch future episodes to know we don't mean any historical distortion". They did clear up that Jisoo and Haein's characters will not be participating in the protests in the whole drama. However, the issues with the portrayal of the NSA are still contentious and an understatement to how the NSA actually treated people back then. The Blue House petition already has enough signatures to demand a government response so I guess we'll what happens then. Guessing either some officials may have to watch the whole drama then decide a verdict on it. Whatever the result though, the damage has already been done. It's now just how far the drama will go to either continue its negative perception or attempt to do damage control. The whole show was pre-filmed so the only power they have is its existing storyline wherever that goes, and editing.

Hundreds of thousands of Koreans lost their lives in wars and oppressing events like the Gwanju Massacre. THIS DRAMA IS TWISTING THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF KOREA. YOU DO NOT JOKE ABOUT HISTORY; this drama is neglecting all the Koreans who fought to save Korea and their language. These events happened only 30 years ago, so the Korea people who suffered under Japanese torture have a right to see their stories told in a respectful way. PLEASE, WATCH ANOTHER DRAMA THAT ACCURATELY TEACHES KOREAN HISTORY, LIKE MR SUNSHINE OR MAL-MO-E. This is not about Jisoo. We're talking about the plot of the drama. Analogically, is equivalent to Nazi soldiers kidnap and torture innocent Jewish people, claiming that all Jewish people are terrorists. Jisoo is a human rights activist girl who promotes Jewish rights. She falls in love with an activist Jewish boy Haein, who is actually a terrorist. The drama SETS the activist boy as an actual terrorist, thereby JUSTIFYING the Nazis' violence to innocent Jewish people. Also, Jisoo's name Anna Franco is a RIDICULE of a REAL VICTIM Anne Frank. Thus, this drama sets a Korean democracy activist (Jewish boy) as a communist spy (terrorist) - which is historically not true - so that the viewers inadvertently assume that the violence of "Agency for NSP" (Nazi) to innocent Koreans had been reasonable. Jisoo's name Youngro is ridicule of a real victim Youngcho.

@chkxjs Then i will. The drama's main character which is a north-korean undercover participating in the fight for democracy of Korea is related to the reasoning of KCIA. When south Korean ppl went out on the streets fighting for democracy, the military regime at that time didn't like that. They wanted the ppl to stop protesting against the government. To stop the protest, the military regime at that time needed to justify their actions. So the KCIA at that time(you can say it's similar to soviet KGB) said that there were north korean spys among the protests(like 5.18). But the KCIA was an military organization that kidnapped and tortured thousands of innocent ppl at the time, so there is a point of controvercy. To sum things up, the controversy is all about the drama possibly justifying the actions of the KCIA and the military regime at that time, which were organizations that destroyed the lives of thousands.

That's my concern too, but from different angle. Kim Hye Yoon is a great actress, I love every character she plays. But, for this one, I really don't like how she take a spotlight even when she has a scene with Jisoo and Hae In which is the main role. I mean, when you act as a supporting character you shouldn't try to make yourself became center of attention and ruined up the hormony. So many senior actors in this drama, with much more experience comparing with the main role, if they act how Hye Yoon act, I think this drama will fail. Tbh, she should learn to lower her ego when she plays the supporting role.
