Making Door & Drawer fingerpull handles EP#20

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hello fellow Woodworkers!
Welcome to Episode # 20 - MAKING DOOR & DRAWER FINGERPULLS - EP#20
Believe it or not, this is the first time I've routered in a finger pull handle before ! I've never been asked to or needed to do one of these in the 23 years of woodworking!
But there is always a first time for everything and how hard can it be?
I've ended up buying a CMT cutter and ended up buying the smallest one they do, hoping this was the right one!
'Trend' Also make these cutters but I thought id give this one ago, being £30 cheaper.
So, in this video I'm setting up the cutter, doing a few tests and then make a very simple template using a piece of 6mm MDF.
After that we router another test piece using the template, then onto routering out a real Melamine faced Birch door and Birch faced drawer fascia. (For an actual job so I cant make any mistakes! )
I work it out as I go along, & explain how it all works!
Hopefully making it easy enough for you to follow and do one yourself simply!
I highly recommend watching & buying one of these cutters yourself! I really do 😁😁👍👍
Please enjoy and leave a comment 👍

Great video showing the finger pulls i was wondering to save the router cutter maybe use a normal straight fluted cutter to get the bulk then go in with the expensive cutter maybe only a though

Nice work Ryan. I hope you quoted the client a healthy bit of labour to cover those finger pulls! Face mask and hearing protection my friend (says he who almost always forgets!). Just picked up the older version of ISOtunes off their website for £50, definitely worth a look 👍

Yep I sure am Haha. Lots of labour involved but I quite like the look of the handles on Melamine faced birch. I know, I'm a bit lazy with the PPE! I'll keep an eye out cheers!

Yeah I saw that, slightly different method tho and used 2 routing proceedures didnt he? He used a rebate bit or flute but before he used the ovolo?

Hi, you speak about router cutters and that Trend are expensive. Have you tried Titman ?, they are not the cheapest but in my opinion they make Trend look more like DIY. You only get what you pay for, and in my experience they have been the best I have used.

Hi Gary thanks for the tips. I'll have to buy a titman when I need a new cutter 😁

How about using a guide collar / bush , you usually get at least one with a decent router.

That's ok! Yes they aren't cheap. Maybe try Trend tools? They have a decent selection!

Burn marks likely due to too high a spindle speed. Try slowing it down.

OK I thought the faster the better but I can see your thoughts. It gives the cutter time to do its thing I guess
